The attacks by ?Mother Nature? and its furiousness on human kind can be seen by the recent increase in the no of natural calamities like the hurricanes, earthquakes and the more recent the **Tsunami.

The no of attacks is increasing on a wider scale and still in some attack prone areas(like Satara Nagpur af India) though being educated people still people don?t know what kind of precautions should be taken.

Though I do not have a thorough knowledge on the subject and some of the points may be repeated but I am still making some contribution here as I think my contribution will at least be used for the good cause(used by someone).

Let me first tell you what I know ofEarthquakes:

Earthquakes are caused by the shifting of the plates under the surface of the earth and are generally evolved when the underground plates cannot store the energy generated within. It is measured on the basis of ritcher scale(It measures the magnitude of the quake) and the centre point(the main area) at which the earthquake erupts is called the epicenter. An earthquake generally lasts for about a maximum of 2-3 minutes but the after-effects lasts for weeks and months.

Though I have not practically experienced any earthquake(and wish I do not experience it also) I would here like to share some of the basic knowledge(although already shared by other reviewers on this site) that I have assimilated through school and trough other media like the news-paper and the journals. The listing of the preparations(before) and the activities(after) are given below:

Before the Disaster:

*1) Be prepared with your safety kit: These do not include heavy materials but the important ones like torches, medicinal kit, some of personal and precious belongings,

and most importantly cash. It is ok if you forget a few things here and there to be put but never forget to put some cash in the safety kit as money is the master medium for everything you want to buy(almost every material thing).

2) Survey your Area well: Check your surrounding areas well and ensure with the

police that they have all the safety amenities installed like the earthing of the of the building, etc. If the building is pretty old it will be first one to be demolished by an earthquake. So check on the regular maintenance of the building.

Also it is advisable to have some birds and animals in the surrounding are as these

house pet animals come to know of the calamity earlier then the human senses. Also

get yourself insured before the calamity(This will take care of the money in kit if otherwise).

During the Calamity:

*God forbid if you experience an earthquake ever in your life which you and I would hope never the best place to be in would be your car! If you are not in your car and in your house unfortunately where most people land up during these times then some of these bullet suggestions can be utilized.

1) Remain in your house and immediately close all the main switch connections

(short circuits can be cause).

2) Get under a table or a chair and stay there. Don?t stand near the walls. If possible go into an open ground as soon as possible(like a garden).

3) Never use the elevator to go down(the above option was preferably for people living on the ground floor).

4) Try to be calm and don?t panic(although you cannot but tend to control these feelings during times like this).

After the calamity there is little one can do to restore the damages occurred. But still one can be helpful always if one wants in many ways.

1) Be calm! It?s not only you others have also lost their loved ones and valuables.

2) Help the injured in the most possible way you can(remaining calm is also a help!).

3) Don?t go around doing publicity stunts like going near the debris and claiming to help others when you don?t know how to.

To conclude:

In accounts we learn that for every income derived has equal expenditure occurred(debit=credit[double-entry system]).In this case also the same rule applies. Though many lives are lost and infrastructures ruined this calamity still is a gain for some companies like the construction companies and the real estate agencies. So I would like to add an after point here that these companies too can help the calamity prone people in their own ways.

Lastly, I would like to say that like every different pleasant day every disastrous calamity is also different. Hence it is very likely to act differently in different situations. Although some of my points may seem weird I have tried my best to fully justify my points to the extent possible. Hope you find some useful tips in here, which may help you to avoid, prepare and overcome the calamity in a little easier way.
