Port Blair is a heaven situated in the Bay of Bengal. It can be reached either from Calcutta or Chennai by air. Since its an island, one has to leave his fear of water at bay and proceed to enjoy the beauty of the place. There are a number of small islands around the city of port Blair. The places to be visited are Jolly buoy, Blue Island, Chidia tapu, Havelock etc apart from tourist spots like the Cellular Jail. You can enjoy the lights and sound show arranged every evening. The jail is a strong link in the war of independence of India. The jail Jolly buoy is the island famous for corals. Perhaps it has now been closed for tourists. Havelock is an island, which is around 3-6 hours away from the Port Blair by ship. The time depends on the type of ship you choose. It’s always better to choose the bigger one, as it takes lesser time and has less swinging. While going to Havelock we went by a small ship available that day. Everybody except a few had vomited in the ship. On the way you will find an Island called the Blue Island. The colour of water signifies the name of it. It is so wonderful; one has to see to enjoy it.
Port Blair has a facility for water sports. One may enjoy water scooter, boating and surfing. Taking bath in the sea is a must if you want to enjoy the trip. The sea is very calm and perhaps does not have currents. The water and the beaches are clean enough. During five days of our stay we really enjoyed bathing in the sea. It was so easy and fun. I think I should suggest you to go in a group to enjoy fully. It will also cost less since you shall travel places in vehicles like tata sumo etc.
