THE NILGIRI HILL TRAIN. Review on Pondicherry

THE NEALAGIR HILL TRAIN POPULARLY KNOWN AS Ooty train...........

It is one of the amazing projects of British engineers in india. The project is really a breath taking. If u see the pictures, photos and history of the neelagir train project you will be thrilled for hours.

In this background let me tell you my first and probably the last experience of my fateful journey in that train.

Since from my child hood I was longing for that experience but I got only recently that is after 30 years in the last summer when I went for ooty tour.

First we reached mettupalayam in the morning 7o?clock. All the people where immediately running to that neelgir steam locomotive like as if they are chased by stray dogs. Once we reached the train, there was no one to tell about where to get ticket. But finally my father went crossing some platform and finally got tickets. When we came to train there was no seat. And they are giving tickets to literally every one. I think for a train about 400 seats they gave tickets for some 1000 persons. So there was literally fighting was taking place in the train to get the seats.

Finally somehow we got seats and then the train started moving. After wards only the worst thing I encountered. There is no toilet in that train, and it takes more than five hours to reach ooty. See the fate of people. Then another worst thing is, the window is very small and very low, so there is no air circulation and for persons who love nature they cant get goood outside view also. More over the compartments are recently made by indian railway engineers. I don't know how our indian engineers are designing the compartments like this. They have finished engineering and having experience in that field also.

Another wonder of our indians is,

They are not bothered about enchanting outside views rather they are only bothered about eating, eating, eating apart from this they are smoking also. The train has no ventilation apart from those small windows.

The passengers enjoyed only one thing in the train apart from eating and smoking, that is , whenever the train travells inside the tunnel, there is darkness in the train and all the passengers are shouting, as if they have never seen darkness in india.

One thing I noticed was some old british made compartments in that train are much better than our recent indian made compartments in that train.

Finally I realised one truth about indian freedom. That is nobody got freedom for our nation from british, actually it is the reverse, that is british got freedom from these senseless indian idiots.
