Being a huge fan of the original Point Break which released in 1991, directed by Kathryn Bigelow, starring Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze. Anyone who hasn't seen the original movie should because I felt that this remake is a far cry from the original one. So anyways for the review I will just focus on the new one so the one's who haven't still watched it, know what to expect.

Luke Bracey plays the character of Johnny Utah, young and fearless FBI agent who is investigating a set of high-profile heists. He gets further ahead in the investigation and suspects a group of athletes to be responsible for all the heists. He goes undercover to get to the bottom of this. On the other end of the spectrum is Bodhi, whose character is played by unimpressive Edgar Ramirez. Considering the kind of character that Bodhi is, I felt like Ramirez's acting was not up the mark, kind of stiff and blank at times. So these are the two important characters in the story.

First lets discuss everything that was good about the movie. Direction, cinematography, stunts, locations, these are the things that were stunning. They have surely taken the projection of extreme sports in movies to a very different level. It all looked so realistic that it got the adrenaline pumping in those who were just watching it. Breath-taking locations and stunts are definitely the selling point for the movie.

Now the things that, according to me, failed to impress. Story and acting, two things that practically matter the most. Unlike the 1991 original, the story in this one was not inspiring, it didn't connect with me. The characters seemed made up and the acting was wooden and flat. It lacked the substance that the original one had.

Honestly, I didn't expect much while going in. I know making a remake is hard. Even though I wasn't impressed, I wouldn't say I didn't have a good time. I mean visually this movie is amazing, watching those stunts performed will get your heart racing. Hence I would give this movie a 3 star, it is a one-time watch. Despite the flaws, there is still something worth watching.
