The Friday was boring and so we decided not to spend the saturday in a similar fashion !!
Off we went to IMax - our regular haunt for the weekend respite when we want to break the monotony by catching a flick.
Chameli was a good movie, but it was ruled out as it was a bit serious. Paisa Vasool was my choice for the evening, but since the other 2 pals wanted to watch Plan, I was put in the minority :-))
When we brought the ticket, a voice in my head prompted me to tell my friends that the flick had got just one and a half star rating.
My buddy immediately put up a grimace and went : ''Pehle bolna tha na yaar. Paisa Vasool chalte the.'' [Why didn't you tell me earlier. We would have watched Paisa Vasool.]
I said with a devilish grin : ''usko bhi same rating hai.'' [Even it has the same rating]
I felt a lot more comfortable after that little joke on my pal. :-)
My thoughts about the casting of the movie...

I think that the movie was made when Dino Morea and Sanjay Dutt met each other in a discotheque.
Dutt : Hi Dino. Wassup ?
Dino : Aarey yaar. Life is very boring. No fun.
Dutt : Whats the matter. Why are you so bored.
Dino : Bipasha is busy and so there is no fun in life.
Dutt : Do not worry. Just follow my funda and you will enjoy life.
Dino : Really !! Whats that !?
Dutt : Take a young heroine who is very 'Open minded' and do a movie with her.
Dino : But you need a story for that.
Dutt : Thats no big deal. First of all you tell me which girl do you like.
Dino : Hmmmm... Let me think. I always wanted to date Sameera Reddy.
Dutt : Ok. Done !! She will be your heroine in this film.
Dino : But what about dates ?
Dutt : I'm sure she can spare a week.
Dino : Isn't it too short?
Dutt : For shooting it is enough but for fun it is too short. Make it two weeks.
Dino : We can shoot the movie in a week?
Dutt : Yeah!!
Dino : What about the story ?
Dutt : Aarey yaar. It is not that big a deal. Have you seen Kaante?
Dino : Yes. Amitabh Bachchan was superb in that.
Dutt : Ok. We will take the general Idea from Kaante. You become AB in the new movie.
Dino : But he is too good. I cannot act like him.
Dutt : ok. You pretend to become a big star like him in the film.
Dino : But there were other actors in kaante.
Dutt : Do you have any friends ?
Dino : There is my pal Bikram Saluja.
Dutt : He looks very boring yaar.
Dino : But he is my good friend and his GF dumped him.
Dutt : Ok. Get him. And yes !! Ask him to get a girl too. The guy must be heart broken.
Dino : Yes. In fact I sent a hooker to him to cheer him up.
Dutt: Thats a good idea. We will use it somewhere in the story.
Dino (Smiling): I liked Sanjay Suri in Jhankaar Beats.
Dutt : Ok. Get him too. Ask him to find one more guy.
Dino : Can we ask Mahesh Manjrekar too. I liked him in Kaante.
Dutt : Good Idea. I'll ask him.
Dino : What will you play ?
Dutt : I will play the lead and have the best looking gal as my heroine.
Dino : I mean what character will you play ?
Dutt : I will play a Don yaar. That way I do not have to learn anything new.
Dino (excited): It also means that we can also have a lot of fights.
Dutt : Yes. I am familiar with a lot of guns.
Dino : You are too good. What a nice plan !!
Dutt : Plan - Thats it !! That will be the name of the movie.
Dino : Thats a good name. But what about entertainment.
Dutt : Aarey I get a lot of SMS jokes on my cell. We will use those in the movie.
Dino : Good idea. That way people will relate to the movie !!
Dutt : Mahesh also wanted to do some shayris. He is good at rhyming. We can use some of them. Rest of the things can be taken care by the dialogue writer.
Dino : We can also have some Disco environment shots in the movie. I like the ambience.
Dutt : I was thinking of having some bar-dance scenes. Ok. No problem. We will have both.
And so the cast of the movie and some of the story was decided. Sanjay Suri wanted Riya Sen as the heroine, But she objected and hence she was paired with Bikram as his (lost) love interest. Payal Rohatgi plays the part of the hooker whom Bikram later falls for. Sameera Reddy plays a wannabe actress and gives the hooker a run for money when it comes to exposing. [At one point I was actually confused as to who was playing the hooker]. Priyanka Chopra plays a bar-dancer and Sanjay Dutt's love interest as she was easily the best looking amongst the lot and also had the best body. Of-course she was ''open minded'' and wore a lot of skimpy clothes too.
Sanjay Suri decided to get Rohit Roy as the fourth guy. The rest of the cast was decided by everyone based on lucky draws.
What to expect from the movie :
4 guys who have run away from home 3 of them with good acting and 1 with average acting skills (Bikram)
One Sanjay Dutt who plays the role of a goon-head to perfection.
One Mahesh Manjrekar who somewhat shines in whatever role is given to him as a rival gang head.
Takes on Dilip Kumar (good one), SRK (again good) and Shatrugan Sinha(ok)
One Priyanka Chopra who has the best bod and also a chunkier role amongst the rest of the heroines.
One Payal Rohatgi who acts well as the hooker.
One Sameera Reddy who doesn't look that good on screen. She should stick to VJing.
One Riya Sen who needs to go back to acting school.
One song with a catchy beat in 'Pyar aaya'.
Songs popping up when they are least expected.
SMS jokes.
Some good tapori style shayris.
A good performance from Sanjay Suri and to some extent Rohit Roy too.
What not to expect :
A decently good story line.
Originality.
Good songs that add to the story.
Oscar winning performances.
A well thought ending.
Brilliant perofrmance from Bikram Saluja.
Dino performing better than AB in Kaante.
Sanjay Dutt playing anyone else than a don in his movies. [Isn't he blurring the line between reel life and real life]
Verdict.
The movie is timepass with some decent acting from some actors. The actresses have done their bit and have exposed quite a bit. But still less than in Janasheen and Boom. The plot is a no brainer and it seems it was decided either in a hurry or in a drunken state. But still there were some genuinely enjoyable moments in the flick when everyone could have a laugh.
The movie sometimes relies on SMS jokes to provide a few laughs. There are moments in the flick when it disinterests the audience completely and you find people in the hall more interesting than whats going on in the flick. At the end of the movie, my friend asked the question that is the title of the revu - Where's the Plan ??
Watch the flick only if other movies are house full.
