Expectations:Horror films in our Hindi cinema have been following a typical pattern where in, mostly a family moves to a new location which eventually turns out to be haunted. The spirits keep haunting them for quite a while and finally posses one of them followed by some religious solutions. Though, there were occasional horror films like'Darna Mana Hain', 'Ragini MMS', 'Darling' and a few more which dared to walk on the unconventional path rather than giving us the same old wine in a new bottle. This week released film'Pizza' too, seems to be among those few content based horror films with a unique storyline attached to it. So lets find out, whether'Pizza' may manage to give us the much required path breaking Hindi horror film or might end up offering nothing except a unique concept.

Story:'Pizza' is the story of Kunal(Akshay Oberoi), a pizza delivery boy who gets trapped in a haunted house on his way to deliver a pizza order. The supernatural elements in that house some how also connects with Kunal's pregnant wife Nikki(Parvathy Omanakuttan) and his boss(Rajesh Sharma). How does Kunal escape from that haunted house and what happens next is what the entire film is all about.

Screenplay & Technicalities:The film is a remake of a south Indian hit film by the same name. The storyline and concept is very strong and unique. The film starts on a slow note, but as it progresses, it starts to get gripping and has an interesting middle hour attached to it. The curiosity attached to the film keeps you glued to the film. At many places, it keeps losing its grip over the horror content and starts to focus on its side tracks. The climax ends up being a let down and could have been much better than, the actual. It's very important for such horror based thriller films to give a proper justification towards its finale, failing to which the whole effort gets ruined. The ones who are expecting some spooky chills will have some to relish. Though, such scenes should have been more in the film and the optimal usage of 3D should have done in maximum scenes.

Music & Direction:Frankly speaking music in such films is not actually required and if forcefully placed ends up diluting the impact of the film, like it does in'Pizza'. The background music goes well with the flow of the film. Director Akshay Akkineni dares to attempt a different style of a horror film and succeeds in the middle portions of the film. If only he would have kept the same tempo throughout the film, the impact would have been much stronger. He should have added some more detailing to the happenings rather than focusing on the side tracks. Still, it's a decent attempt in comparison to what we have been witnessing in the name of horror in our country.

Performances:Akshay Oberoi looks good for his role, but fails to get inside the skin of its character. He also struggles to act in many scenes. Parvathy, Dipannita Sharma, Arunoday Singh, D'Santosh and Hussain Dalal lend good support. Rajesh Sharma is great in his part. Omkar Das Manikpuri and Sonali Sachdev are wasted.

So bol meri'Filmi Khopdi' iss film mein kitna hain Dum?

Dum? Well, there is decent dum in the middle portions of the film with some chills and has an interesting storyline attached to it. It's only due to inconsistent screenplay, weak climax, lack of horror content and some minor diversions the movie ends up an appetizer with mix flavours instead of being a whole three course meal. Yet, its way above the routine horror films we have been witnessing in the recent times.
