I am yet to taste Pizza Corner's Pizza. That is because my first ever home delivery order is yet to come to me. At 7:15 PM today, I placed an order for a Conizza, Calzone, diet coke and a pineapple banana fudge on this number 44112233. I wanted to have a TV dinner and skip cooking for te night. The respondent Mr venkatesh happily took the order and told me that he is not giving me any time guarantee for a reason I could not make out clearly. Anyway, with timely deliveries in the past from Pizza Hut and Dominoes, I thought this should not be a cause to concern.
By 8.15 PM I was worried and hence called the number again. Nobody answered. At 8:40 PM I called again. The same guy who took my order answered. He remembered me and promised to call me back in 2 minutes after checking out what happened. The call never came. At 8:50 PM I called again.someone at the other end disconnected the phone! A couple of minutes I called again. The same guy answered. Before I could finish my sentence " I wwould like to cancel my order", he transferred my call to some faceless guy named Sudhakar without even warning me about it. Now this gentleman started asking me history questions.who are you when did you order, what is your address and most ridiculously "which number did you call to place the order?" I told him I just wanted to cancel the order. He said "just a moment sir" and went off the line. I waited for a while and disconnected.
It was 9 PM. I finally got up and put some rice in the cooker and soaked some tamarind hoping to make some rasam. But out of curiosity(and in any case I had to make sure they cancelled the order) I called again. This time I heard a funny promotional jingle looping endlessly. I rang off. 9:15 PM I call yet again after shutting off the cooker and putting salt into the(now-boiling) rasam. Venkatesh answers again and asks my number. I give my phone number. He recognises me and repeats my entire order and then asks me."so what happened sir?"!
I had no idea what to say! It was the same person who knew that I placed and order, and then wanted to cancel it! It was the same person who promised to call me back with the reason for now show. I told him he should tell me what happened as I had cancelled the order. He excused himself yet again and went off the line. A little later he came back and requested me to wait for his call yet again!. My rasam was almost ready. I had nothing to lose. So I agreed.
At 9:21PM he called me back and offers me some excuse of personnel availability or something. No issues.but he should have told me earlier! I remind him that I cancelled the order. He insisted that I will receive the order any time. I protested and he went off line again with an excuse and returned back to tell me that the order is on the house.complimentary. Fine! But what am I supposed to do with it? The aroma of my rasam has erased all desires for pizza. He insisted again and also asked me to call them once the delivery boy delivers. I have no idea what to do. I live alone and cannot eat rice-rasam and pizza together!
Anyway.it is 9:37 PM and the delivery is yet to come in. I am enjoying my rice, rasam and pickle.
