It appears that Sanjay Dutt and Mahesh Manjrekar enjoy a terrific relationship and rapport, wherein both put in their heart and soul and try to give something, which is not very usual. The most unusual thing about Pitaah is the costume Sanjay has to wear a dhoti. Until date, this has not happened before Pitaah. Mahesh Manjrekar has found a new base for the plot; PITAAH, which was till now a virgin title. He has utilized his concept of Shlokas in Pitaah as well like his previous films (with Sanjay) Vaastav & Kurukshetra. The story revolves around a village where there is zamindari system and class differences are still predominant. Women are still less than men and ill-treated. Pitaah is a story of consequences and circumstances that forces a common man to change the way he lives and behaves. Sanjay Dutt plays a worker for the zamindar (Om Puri). As is commonly known the story is about the problems faced by a common man (Sanjay) and how the consequences of these problems turn him into a rebel. He does whatever a good Pitaah should do to lead a contented life with the family and protect them.
