Dr.Chandraprakash Dwivedi's Pinjar is definetily a film to reckon with. With lavish settings, an unforgettable performance by Urmila Matondkar and a great topic it is a film worth seeing.
Pinjar is the story of Puro(Urmila Matondkar), a young hindu girl who lives in a small village in Punjab in 1946. She is young, good looking, engaged to Ramchand(Sanjay Suri) and has a loving family. However, her world takes a turn for the worst as she is kidnapped by a man of another community(Manoj Bajpai) and forced into marriage. Pinjar is the story of this woman's sufferings,

Urmila Matondkar delivers an exceptionally wonderful performance. The actress performs the complex role with great skill and is first-rate. Manoj Bajpai is first-rate. Sanjay Suri gives a sensitive performance as well but Eesha Kopikar is wasted. The only drawback of the film is it's excessive length, but it is a must see for all!
