Well, I am not into cooking, so this review may not be a good read - however I was very happy to have this delicious preparation and thought my readers should try this and enjoy it too and hence this review.
Also, special thanks to my wife, with whose inputs I have written this piece.
What is it? As the name suggests - this is a ready-made mix for preparing cakes at home and that too in a cooker! Surprised? In fact I was too. I always believed one needs an oven to bake cake at home, but this mix has helped overcome that need.
How simple is it to make? Extremely simple! Just take the mix, steam and ready to be served!
Mix the powder with 2 spoon of oil and about 100ml of milk, prepare a batter. Make sure the batter isn't very thick or thin - it should just about medium.
Take about 5inches container and apply butter/oil to its bottom/sides and spread the batter across it.(wife said this is required so that the cake should not get stuck to the vessel, once its cooked - something I learnt, today!)
Now, in the pressure cooker(about 3ltrs), pour water to about 1 inch(do not pour lot of water) and immerse the stand which is again about 1 inch, now place the container with batter insider and allow it to steam for 30-40 mins.
Very Imp: Take off the whistle/weight, while you are cooking the cake.
After 40 mins, open the cooker and check if the cake is baked using a knife/toothpick. If its cooked well, the toothpick should come out of it, very clean. Keep the cooker open for 5 mins and allow the smoke to escape.
After some cooling, keep this in the refrigerator for about 10 mins(or let it just cool at outside temp) and then your delicious cake is ready.
But before serving the same, you can decorate the same with chocolate cream, gems, toppings etc.
The brand s well known so that should not be a major worry. Its available in Chocklate and Vanilla flavor. it comes in a pack of 150gm(with free toppings) and priced at 90. Good enough for 4 people.
Ingredients: Sugar, wheat flour, cocoa, milk, vegetable oil, starch, some agents and emulsifiers and vanilla flavor.
Final verdict? We all loved this egg-less cake prepared at home as it was easy to make just using the cooker and it turned out to be nice and spongier than the baked one. Try it!
