INTRODUCTION

Actually I watched this movie without any expectation. But it did amaze me. I saw this movie for free, thanks to my friend. I just love seeing movies for free (Don't misunderstand me). The Bollywood seems to be undergoing evolution. They are making all kinds of movies these days. They have made a very sentimental slow movie ''Phir Milenge'' which I saw just after the very fast paced, non sentimental ''Dhoom'' both belonging to two entirely different genres.

Phir Milenge was good, but as it was too slow, I wanted to get out and in after each dialogues as there was large amount of space between each dialogue. The movie was stretched, but still it was a difference experience watching this movie. It let my thoughts fly.....actually where did it go? Don't worry it is usual when seeing sentimental movies especially the meaningful ones like this.....

THE MOVIE

The movie brings another new theme in place about HIV/AIDS which seemed a good deviation as many entertainers released these days flopped with no remorse. The making of movies on present social issues are quite a good trend. The movie has quite some interesting and melodious songs, my favourite one being ''Jeene Ka'' (I love this song) and the others too are nice even if slow and a bit sentimental - it is quite expected in this type of movies.

''Khul Ke Muskurale'' and ''Kuch Pal'' are the other two songs. My friend said that he got sentimental after seeing the movie. It really is worth being sentimental as I thought about this movie for some time and is still thinking.

THE PLOT

Tammanna (Shilpa Shetty) is a designer who works in an advertising company. Because of her briliance in works, the company gets a large number of awards. She couldn't her personal life going due to her heavy work at night and day alike, she is very much dedicated to her job. She doesn't even have enough time to spend with her only sister, the only one related to her by blood.

But all her hard work and brilliance loses its importance when she is found to have HIV virus as a result of having sex with her long time lover Rohit (Salmaan Khan) who himself was not aware of the fact that he had it. She just lost the phone number of him which she wrote in her hand while bathing and the last hope of contacting him was lost.

The company just expelled her and the boss was not even ready to say bye to her. He wanted her to stay away. She wanted to fight against this discrimination against her and she looks for a lawyer, but nobody is ready to help her in the factor as she was HIV positive. Finally a young lawyer Tharun (Abhishek Bachan) becomes ready to accept the case after some initial problems. But the way through which they have to go is not an easy one.

Will Tammanna be able to put an end to this discrimination and get her job back? What will happen to her love story with Rohit whom she hasn't met for a long time? Will Tharun get a creditable victory? Will the boss get the right to expell her? How will Tammanna's life go now? And what will be much expected end of this touching story? You can watch the movie and find out.....

PERFORMANCES

The main role of the movie belongs to Shilpa Shetty who has handled it pretty well. I didn't have much expectations from her after seeing her in Garv were she had only a little to do which she failed to do. The girl who played Shilpa's sister was great as she got some good looks and gives some inspiring dialogues. If this movie is going to be a hit, it is going to be because of Shilpa's acting as well as Revathy's direction.

Revathy seems to have come a long way after her first movie ''Mitr'' which didn't make that much of an impact. Revathy also plays the small role of a doctor who tells shilpa about her being HIV positive in the movie which she does remarkably well. She got the acting experience which she got from her long early acting in Malayalam movies. She has handled a sensitive topic like this with extensive care and made it fit enough to watch. She should have certainly had a bigger role.

Salmaan Khan who has only a small role to do in the movie which he does well enough. But the role seems to be getting too much sympathy, much more than what the character really deserved. We can wait for his next movie ''Dil Ne Jise Apna Kaha''. Abhishek Bachan seems to have given his best performance in the movie - his performance in the early film Dhoom is nothing compared to this, he does the lawyer really well to get the move to another level.

CONCLUSION

The movie shows what rejection is all about in the life of HIV patients, the discrimination they come across if they tell the truth to some body or they knows it in some way. I have read about a case of two children not allowed to study in a school because of being HIV positive and they being allowed to be in the school and agitaions by the teachers and parents of the other students against their admission and lots of problems following that, whatever I forgot that.

The movie really touches the reality of life. Nobody will accept an HIV patient as they will only fear them and hate them, thats the problem that we are having in India. That makes watching this movie important to watch. There are lots of different cases on this.

Whatever, that was a bold attempt to make a movie like this inspired from Jonathan Demme's ''Philadelphia'' (1993) starring Tom Hanks where a lawyer gets on the act against an AIDS victim's professional persecution adding some fresh, innovative ideas also. The movie do challenge the attitude of the common people as well as the government.....

A GREAT INSPIRING MESSAGE FOR ALL....THIS IS FOR SOME ONE WHO WANTS TO KNOW ABOUT AND FEEL THE REALITIES OF THE LIFE.....THANKS TO REVATHI.....HUM PHIR MILENGE - IN THE NEXT REVIEW
