Let me start off by saying that I'm a fan of Anushka Sharma and I was really looking forward to this film but in return this film has turned out to be quite a disappointing affair.

Story:

It's the love story of a spirit named Sashi( Anushka Sharma) who gets married to a manglik NRI Kanan( Suraj Sharma) . Suraj is about to get married to Anu( Mehreen pirzada) but is unsure about it. Sashi on the other hand gets stuck with Suraj and the movie shifts between the present and the past where lies the real story of Sashi and her lover Phillauri( Diljit Dosanjh) .

Star Performances:

Anushka Sharma is impressive in both the characters that she plays but I personally loved her more in the flashback sequences of the film. She is very good in the emotional scenes.

Diljit Dosanjh too has been impressive in the film but I felt his character was not given a proper attention. His screen time is also less.

Suraj Sharma plays his part well but his voice fluctuations are annoying especially when he speaks to Anushka's character for the first time. Otherwise he manages the other scenes well and his comedy is a relief at times.

Mehreen Pirzada has been the most appealing character. She's beautiful and acts even more beautifully. Although I do think that she has a child like behaviour in a few scenes.

The other cast comprising of Nidhi Bhist and Anushka's brother in the film have also done well. Also the character of Dadi in the film is quite funny.

Music:

Shashwat Sachdev's music works well for the theme of the film but the lack of a chartbuster song is something you feel while watching this. Sahiba and Dum Dum are nice. On a whole the album is good but not great.

Direction and Screenplay:

This is by far the most disappointing department of the film. The film appears to be running at the pace of a snail. It's shabily edited and the sequences are so long that you actually feel like taking a nap because you know what is going to happen towards the end of that particular scene. This long, never ending saga slowly gets converted into a yawn festival.

The climax of the film is interesting though.

The comedy is quite immature.

Dialogues are average.

Verdict:

Frankly I was more excited to watch Phillauri than Badrinath ki Dulhaniya because I thought the film would be entertaining and different. Clearly that has not been the case. Watch it if you are a fan of anyone in the starcast but otherwise I would not recommend it. The film is sure to make you laugh in a few scenes but on the whole as a package it is dragged beyond limits.
