Do not go for Philips Mixers

We bought a Philips mixer grinder since is was a reputed brand and was at an affordable price. It was also claimed to be a'Super Silent' Mixer, which is arguable.

Anyway's, the mixer worked well for a few months, and then slowly the quality of grinding deteriorated. The food was not being chopped finely enough. We thought it maybe because the blades were loosing their sharpness, but was not the case. After a couple of more months, the mixe stopped working. A mixer grinder from a reputed brand like Philips knoking off in 1.5 years is definitely not acceptable.

Luckily it came with 2 years warranty, and I took it to their service station. The service men after inspection told me that the motor was out and they had to replace the motor. They had to procure the motor from outside( outside of Bangalore, imagine that. Which company does not keep spares ready in a city like Bangalore), and they took close to a month to get it fully ready.

Eeven after the new motor was installed, it went well only for a few months, and again the quality of grinding detoriated. When asked, the service station folks told that the quality of grinding was NOT dependent on the blade sharpness, but on the speed of the motor( We were running on newly bought blades.). So, the newly replaced motor was also not upto the mark.

By now, the warranty period was over, and we did not want to take it to a PAID servicing to improve the quality of grinding. So we just pused it to the shelf and got a new Maharaja Mixer. We use the Philips mixer once in a while, just because it is still runing and because it's still there.

My suggestion is, " Do not go for Philips Mixes" .  Philips is not well know for their Electrical Stuff( Expect Tube lights and CFL's). They may just sub-contract such goods to some manufacturer and market it. Philips is good only in Electronics, not in Electrical / Machines.
