Well the coffee tastes OK but that will depend on the quality of the coffee you put in it more than the machine performance.
Its easy enough to use once you have done it a few times but making coffee this way is not a pleasurable pastime. Cleaning out the grains and filling the water tank all takes time so it is not a great benefit over a good quality instant. Cleaning is where we have the problem. You must remove the filter in the head by undoing a Phillips head screw and wash it out. To do this and refit the sealing rubber its best to turn it on its side so you have to remove the water tank first. That slides upwards quite easily and does not leak when you refit it. I would agree with a previous contributor this needs to be a least once a week.
The filters in the coffee pan are most annoying. I run an cycle using just hot water to try and clean them each day. Its a double skin so you can't get inside to clean mechanically. They need to be re-designed, I tried drilling a slightly bigger hole in the base of the filter as it was continually blocking spraying hot water mixed with coffee grinds all over the worktop past the rubber seal(which is in good condition as the machine is almost new). Breville should either recall this machine or issue a retro fit of new filters. Also the paint or teflon that coats the base of the hot water jet has peeled off so I wonder what else is mixed with my coffee when I drink it. I wouldn't buy this machine again and will try and return it although it was a gift and I didn't get a receipt.
