I bought a Philips Home Theater 2 yrs ago due to 2 reasons: It was cheaper and the seller convinced us of Philip India's 'superior' after sales service. I should have known better than to go for a cheap product! First it broke down within warranty period. After getting it repaired it broke down again after 6 months. Service engineer took 500/- for house visit but couldn't fix it properly. So we had to take it to service center ourselves. This time they took 1500/- for repair.
The product broke down the very next day. We took it back again to service station. It is lying there ever since (7 months total) and Philips India Customer Care has got back to us saying we need to pay 2000/- more which includes a 1000/- discount. So total Philips India charging us 4000/- for a 9500/- product which hardly provided service for 16 months. You can do the math yourself before deciding to buy a Philips product.
A word of warning: never believe what a shop owner tells you.
Update: I sent Philips India a legal notice via National Consumer Forum. They returned the repaired set along with 1 year AMC support --all for 1200/-.
