Simply Outstanding! This is not only one of the most feature packed DVD player I have seen, but also one of the best performing. Although the manual doesn't mention it anywhere, I am quite sure of a 10-bit video DAC being present on the insides. The internal Dolby Digital decoder also served up a riveting performance and going back to two-channel audio will definitely not be an option after you hear the brute force and realism of Dolby Digital 5.1 channel sound. The player also allows an elaborate set-up menu with delay settings and individual speaker sizes. The 'Zoom' mode is an unnecessary inclusion in a player of this caliber and should be used only if you like your actors cut in half.
The Philips might prove to be a bit steep in its pricing, but performance wise, it is worth every paisa of its 34,077 bucks. With its champagne gold finish, it might even enhance the looks of your home entertainment unit. It might take some time to get used to the extensive list of features and exploiting the full potential of the player, but once you have mastered it, there will be no more Sunday outings!
