Philips 42 Inches 42PFL6357 Full HD LED Television

Got it at 0% emi with 0 fees on my HDFC for 6 months.

Placed the order on Nov 20th and got it delivered on the 30th.

To protect the TV, it comes in a wooden crate / frame which the Philips installers refuse to open since they claim they don't have the tools. So I had to arrange for a carpenter to come and open it up which was more irritating than expensive [about Rs.200].

it would be nice if online sellers of branded TVs would notify the manufacturer / service centre directly for any installation / demo just like regular stores so that we don't have to call and setup times after delivery.

The sites already have our shipping address, mobile & email which is what most installers need in any case.

But given the M.R.P. of Rs. 55k printed on the box, it was a good deal and under my target budget of Rs. 1 k / inch for led over 32".

Surprisingly, the picture quality seems lower than my 32" Panasonic LCD which is over 5 years old.

It might be a setting issue but I did try some adjustments for TataSky plus yet all SD channels seem fuzzy / blurry and HD seems very avg.

I wonder if it is due to a larger screen size, though its over 2 meters away. The rule of thumb is that your min viewing distance should be the screen size rounded up in feet so 24-32" should be 3 feet away while 40-42" should be 4 feet min.

I love the light 15kg weight compared to 20kg for my 32" LCD.

Also the surrounding 'frame' is just over an inch thing, so its not intrusive like the LCD which has an almost 2" thick border.

However, the wires go in from the left so you can see some from the side which is silly.

You should NOT tighten your wires since they will 'kink' and you will have to replace them when damaged.

The wall mount is also much better than my prev LCD. instead of a slot which is difficult to slide into, its just a bar on which the LED is hung from hooks like a picture.

Not only is it less bulky, its possible to lift it out a few inches from the bottom to slide your hand in when swapping cables.

The older wall mounts did not leave enough gap at the back for your hand to fit unless its a child sized fist!
