Hello MSians! This topic is in fact a very interesting topic specially for people who are on an errand of purchasing a car.Well, I am not on such an errand but the topic did interest me somehow.Anyways before I start off, I must reveal certain facts to all of you: #1-the data/information contained in this review are as per the experiences and opinions of some of the people I meet regularly in my locality and having cars.So the accuracy with the actual data may not be 100%. #2-certain technical differences that are mentioned here are from the purchase manual of Toyota Innova so references are made to the respective versions[diesel and petrol] of the above mentioned car.

Everybody wishes to obtain maximum benefits from the commodity for which they spend so much. This is perhaps called adding value to one's money. This is probably the primary issue that strikes in a customer to make differentiations whether to purchase a petrol car or a diesel car, suitable for his/her requirements.

Why a diesel car?

Comparitively, diesel cars are more expensive than petrol cars of the same version eg: the Toyota model-V Diesel version D4-D=Rs.10, 34, 846 whereas model-V petrol version called as Petrol VVT-I=Rs.9, 72, 700. **The above prices are inclusive of all the govt. levis prevailing like local commercial tax etc. Then why do people buy diesel cars? As I told you earlier, adding value to one's money is the primary factor in every purchase, the prime concern here is the cost of one litre of diesel vs that of petrol. 1 litre of diesel=Rs.33.79. 1 litre of petrol=Rs.44.71. [this data is obtained from a filling station in my town Keonjhar, to add to it.hike in the prices of oil keeps changing]. As is apparent from the above figures, there is a difference of around 62, 146/- only in the two versions of the same model of the car and the difference in oil price is almost 11/-[10.92/-].So value for money against the price of oil per litre is more in case of diesel cars.So despite the high quotations on diesel cars people prefer them. The gross weight of diesel cars is more than that of petrol ones so stability on surface is more in diesel cars. gross weight(kg): *model V/D4-D:2290 *model V/VVT-I:2240.

Why a petrol car?

Where mileage is concerned, petrol cars are always in demand against diesel cars.eg:Tata Indica petrol:24-26kms/lite;diesel:19-20kms/litre and that too at a lesser power consumption in petrol cars.So if no compromises are to be made on mileage, plzzz go for a petrol car. Where less maintenance costs are concerned, petrol cars are high in the league. The diesel filters somehow tend to get worn pretty soon and need to be replaced if longeivity of the engine is desired[come on who doesnt want this!] Where comfort is concerned, smooth and less noisy drive, its a fortune only in petrol cars.grrrr of diesel cars.huh. Leaving aside the interior similarities in the two versions, the engine is the primary difference between the two. The above were the common man pros and cons brought out by me.Somebody whoz got experience in cars please help me out in enhancing my GK.

Please feel free to comment. Take care.
