I m a Engineer by prfession, While buying a car one wil always have the confusion whether to buy a petrol car or a diesel one?/?

its Not a mere Calculation in Excel sheets or reviews of Old ppl who drove ambassdors and sumo. Nver drove the latest technology car of CRDI, DDIS, To decide to take petrol .

Let me tell you. the Real fact in intially one pays Arnd 60-1lac rupees more on diesel engine, but the main point here is that u are going to sell the same car after few years which will fetch u Again 40-50K more than a petrol version of the same model, So a loss of say 20%-30%.

Second point,

That 20-30% can be recovered from the running cost, see, u run in total 60K in 5 years(minimum assumption) diesel car gives more mileage than a petrol car,

let us take the well know swift cars VDi & VXi, difference 75k

Vdi- mileage 17-20KMPL

Vxi mileage 13-15KMPL

Here one makes a mistake of always calculating on Average fuel which makes petrol more effcient but, DONT GIVE THE CRAPTHAT UR CAR WIL NEVER DRIVE ON HIGH WAY, U WIL NEVER GO FOR LONG DRIVEVDI.MILEAGE 21KMPL Highway and minmum of 18KMPL.

I would again challenege anyone to say good about petrol, and the car mentioned in the example.

All the comforts remain the same . PPL just find faulty when they are not able to afford it or get one, .
