Story:

Stephen King completed writing this book, and decided to read it after six weeks of “ageing”. He found the book so terrifying, (he says, “.this time I had crossed the line”) that he put the book in a drawer, and decided that it was too far gone beyond the line to be published! It was his publisher who persuaded him to go ahead and publish this magnificent book.

On the cover of this book,  right below the words “Pet Sematary”, it says, “Pets are not just for life”, J and that should tell you something about the book right away. But then, this line is just the first h0le in the fabric. Stephen king makes this h0le bigger… and bigger…. And even bigger – till the h0le overshadows the fabric!

See, there is a certain amount of charm in subdued horror. It wouldn’t be horror if it is overstated. In this book, the statement grows and grows, but it never becomes an overstatement! That, I guess, is the beauty of this book(or the horror!). That, or the fact that as always, Mr. King has managed to weave a horror story around the seemingly everyday players and places. I mean, the possibility that it could be happening right in your neighborhood, right under your noses adds that much to the felt horror. The reality isn't "Cujo"-class, but it's up there among the best.

Well, to be honest, to quite an extent, I was able to figure out what was going to happen next – the sequence of events, seemed, to some extent, inevitable. But then, Stephen King weaves his story with such masterfulness, that he still holds you spellbound, and you’d be turning the pages with unbound eagerness till you reach the last page.

The story is about an old Indian burial ground with magical powers . not necessarily good. It’s an enchanted place; it’s a cursed place. A family of four moves in nearby, and shortly their pet cat dies. An old timer of the town suggests that the cat be buried at the old Pet cemetery – The “Pet Sematary”, but he doesn’t tell why. The guy soon finds out why, and then …. and then…. Read and find out!
