Yeh Ad hai Badi!!!!. Review on Pepsi 'Yeh Pyaas Hai Badi' commercial

I have always found T.V. advertisements very interesting. It?s amazing to see that ad filmmakers really bring out the essence of the product and show it within 60 to 120 seconds.

It?s a big challenge especially to the media houses to present the SAME product in a refreshing manner without losing its charm. Such is the case of soft drink PEPSI.

Both the Cola companies i.e. PEPSI & COKE have always been at loggerheads in advertising their product. They always rope Bollywood actors & cricketers to give it the glamorous touch. From Shahrukh Khan, Rani Mukherjee, Kareena Kapoor to Sachin Tendulkar, Aishwarya .Rai, Vivek Oberoi all have left their mark on these ads. But I feel only Big B i.e. Mr. Amitabh Bachan is the Badshah amongst these glam models.

Though he has crossed 60 years, he still carries the same Charisma that he had in his hey days. One can see how enthusiastic he is whenever he is on any advertisement. Nowadays he endorses almost any products that are available in the market. Whether its Dabur?s Anardana in which he imitates with a small schoolboy or for ICICI Bank, he is perfectionist.

The latest ad of Pepsi is the best of all. Since there is nothing new to say of the product, the ad has been cleverly crafted to uphold its slogan ?Yeh Pyaas Hai Badi?.

Here Big B is shown as a boatman(a total rural look) rowing with Arshad Warsi, who is still continuing with his Circuit image from Munnabhai. Arshad carries with himself a crate of Pepsi in the boat.

As Big B rows the boat, he feels very thirsty and looking at Pepsi says, ?Badi Pyaas lagi hai?.Arshad gets wild and tells him ?Paani Pi Paani?.

Now here comes the twist. Big B's mind acts in a wicked way & pulls out small wooden pieces from the base of the boat one by one without Arshad?s knowledge and tells him to close it with his hands and feet to avoid the water to seep inside the boat. Arshad is scared, confused and petrified. He tries his level best to plug the holes. In this confusion, Big B grabs the bottle of Pepsi and quenches his thirst by gulping down at one go. Arshad is shell-shocked and removes his hand to shout. By the time water jets out to pour straight into Arshad?s mouth .

Here Big B smiles with sarcasm and says ? Badi pyaas lagi hogi na? PAANI PI PAANI?.

The costume, punch line, the storyboard, screenplay, the camera effects and the final message about PEPSI is well defined. Just don?t miss this ad. It?s the best ad amongst soft drinks. Arshad - Amitabh combo is definitely worth watching!!!
