I had ordered a Sofa cum bed from Pepper fry on 7th of September. The delivery deadline was today 3rd of October, 2015. Buying expensive furniture online is always a risk, but my past experiences with other online electronics retailers have been good so far so that gave me confidence to try it on furniture front as well. And that's where Pepperfry told me Dude you are wrong. Unlike online electronic retailers who deliver you the product much earlier than the delivery deadline, we take the pleasure in making our customer wait.


The product was shipped from Gurgaon to Bhiwandi(Mumbai) on 15th September and reached Bhiwandi in just 4 days on 19th September. Pune is just 3-4 hours from Mumbai. So I didn't expect them to deliver at that lightening fast way but they always had a pretty good chance to deliver it at least in next 7 days by 26, September or so.


I contacted their customer care on around 24th or 26th, I don't have the exact date, the customer service rep assured me a delivery of the product  on or before 3rd October.


So I waited as they haven't crossed the deadline. On 1st October I got a call from their delivery boy saying he will deliver the product at about 5 PM. I waited all evening and and gave him a call by 6 and he confirmed he will be reaching by 8. But when he didn't turn up by  8 PM I called him again and he said sir your order is not in today's delivery list. I wasted whole evening waiting for him. On public holiday's they don't deliver product unlike other online e retailers who do. So  he promised to deliver the Product on 3rd October. After frequent follow ups on 3rd October he said the product will be delivered by 2:00 PM. And till 3 there was no call or anything  and that's when I contacted their customer care chat support and they took a good long time just to inform only 2 out of 3 boxes have been shipped so product can't be delivered.


So a product which reached Mumbai well in advance on 19th September, Pepperfry only woke from their slumber on the delivery deadline 3rd October to see the complete package has not arrived. Leave aside a faster delivery which they could easily have made. I had cancelled the order after repeating it for 3-4 times in the chat to cancel, for which at last they agreed and they don't send any email just a reference number which can't be tracked and that too the product will only be cancelled after they get confirmation from their warehouse. So no trackable ticket, no email notification about cancellation ticket and no chat transcript that you had with customer care rep. And refund will only be initiated once they confirm with warehouse, despite they being at fault.  Shop at your own risk. Pepperfry or cusomer's Bhejafry. you decide.
