Ordered a Ichika 2 door glass book case from Pepperfry.com on 30th June and delivery date was promised as 7th June. Paid upfront and got a confirmation on the date of delivery. Got regular updates by SMS and the delivery was done on schedule as promised on 7th around noon. It came packed in cardboard packaging and neatly packed at the origin in Malaysia. The delivery team opened the box and checked each and every part and placed it on the floor in balcony and took away all the packing materials. I asked them if they could pack it as it was until assembly to keep it protected and they refused saying they cannot re-pack it like that.


Result, It was in fact kept stacked open in the balcony till assembly and gathered lot of dust for next 3 days.


I was told the assembly will happen the same day by evening and the carpenter will call me. Nobody called the whole day.


Next day I received a SMS from pepperfry saying a carpenter has been assigned and he will reach me which he never did. I followed up with the guy whole day and he kept delaying the whole day and called me at 7.15 pm saying he can come by 7.30 pm. I requested him to schedule next day as it was late already. Next day again, no one called and I got a SMS saying another person is assigned. Same story next day too. Lot of follow up with the carpenters. He couldn't attend the whole day and was ready after 7 pm which I again refused. He promised to come today at 11 am and did actually turn up at about 11.30 am. In 2 hours, he completed the assembly and did a good job overall and seemed well skilled. Towards the end of assembly he said it is good to attach plastic L shape angles at the bottom to protect from water costing 100 bucks which would actually not be worth more than Rs. 15 or 20. I asked him to fix it if it is necessary as it seemed ok. If it is really needed, Pepperfry design team should make it as part of standard accessories. After paying already for Product, delivery and assembly it takes out the WOW factor from the entire order experience to follow up with the delivery guys and pay extra for such small things which are like obvious requirements for the product.


The product overall looks good but is not sturdy and strong. Especially the back side is made up of very thin layer of Sunmica sheet which can break with one punch.


During the entire process and till now, no one from their customer care team called to check about the delayed assembly. They simply updated the delivery status as customer not available on site without even checking with me which is bad.


To sum it up, it is just an okayish experience.
