For Better Images. Review on Pentax Camera MZM

My profile page reflects photography as one of my interests. I developed the interest during my graduation years. As stars, planets, comets, constellations fascinates and fascinated everyone from our ancestors to us it attracted me. Seeing the heavenly pictures of galaxies, planets, moon, eclipses I couldn’t help myself from diving in to the abyss of science of photography. Astronomy is the first science human has developed and documented. All sun, moon, stars and dark voids have been there way before creation of earth. So even though we couldn’t discover fire we knew sun gives light and goes away at night to let the way in for moon (just kidding!). The above nonsense is to make you aware of the expanse of photography.

An ideal camera should have a good lens, medium zoom, Auto & manual focus, aperture control, Exposure control (i.e. shutter speed control), Timer, Powerful flash, tripod, auto film rewinding abilities. Canon EOS 300, a camera, which I reviewed earlier is a true masterpiece. My brother works in Germany. He bought it for family for $ 250. Canon Eos 30 is also with similar capabilities is also a good camera slightly less expensive that 300. Nikon the other giant in the industry also has a range of cameras from SLR to twin reflectors.

This is not so advanced camera like EOS series however good Picture Quality, Flexibility with many Features, Elegant Design, and have a moderate budget are some of the highlights of this camera. Lightweight, Super image quality, and medium range of features are just some of the positives which characterize this masterpieces. My photographer cousin in Pune owns bunch of such cameras. In fact I learn about aspects of photography from him only. He lets me have snaps with his camera whenever he is not busy doing his job. Other than Canon I have also used Nikon and Pentax. They are good at there own place but A Camera has its own specialties, uniqueness to differentiate it from others.

I personally don’t use AutoFocus mode. In Autofocussing mode, focusing is done automatically to match the picture-taking mode. Shutter is not release even if you click, till complete focusing is achieved. For still object Autofocusing locks once the focusing is done. In case of failure of AF function focusing ring can be adjusted to achieve focus. User selectable 7-point focus is provided. For a flexibility and freedom I suggest using manual mode. You can set your own aperture priority auto exposure, shutter speed etc. and get the hold of the situation. That would give you feel of how different functions operate and what are results. As you go along you would understand what I mean by flexibility and freedom.

Exposure setting is auto.For low light you require good exposure meaning more exposure of film and there by increased shutter speed. To set these times you need a lot of experience. For wannabes this function is useful. The camera senses the available light and decides the amount of exposure is needed. For Astronomical Photography Nine-hour exposure cameras are used for picturing Galaxies and sky. I have a special interest in night photography. Focusing and Exposure are sort of inter-related. For low light it becomes difficult for camera to focus, so you need to manually do it. Shutter speed ranges are from as high as 1/2000 sec (for moving object photography) to low of 30 sec for dim light conditions.

You can always choose your own lens if you don’t want the default lens. Lot lenses are available in the market. As we learned in School basic are converging and diverging or positive and negative lenses in terms of photography. Converging one is convex and the other one is convex. Telephoto and retro focus lenses have greater focal lengths. Zoom, Macros and Tele-extenders are the third type of lens. Nikon has a 35-70mm f3.5-4.8 lens. The lens is of pretty good quality. The results are very good. External flash can be attached to have a better range covered.

So overall from the features explained above esp. good picture quality with the default lens this should be a good buy for your money.
