Be it poverty or showcasing the nerve of the nation with pun, film maker’s mantra has seen a change in recent past and thus, Peepli live is one amongst them. Candidly portraying the rural India, farmers are the subject of the movie. Catastrophic event of suicide has been mocked and mimicked. In the line, most of the people laugh at the plight of the farmers, they giggle at their frustration, comment on their starving, but no one truly sympathizes with them. No one cares for real state of affairs that these hard working people are subjected to.

India is an agriculture state; and we forget that survival of the country is still with exporting food grains to the developed economy. Farmers still need to be working really hard to feed the entire nation, and if we don’t understand the subject, laughing at the situation will not take the country ahead or give a solution to the adversity that they have been meted with for years. Be it farmers in Vidarbaha or Mednipur, the mediocre reports or antagonizing movies only lynch the situation.

The events in the movie are not very throbbing or new. Any regional movie in Bengali, or Malayalam or Oriya based on the same subject line has repeatedly showcased the dilapidated situation of agriculture in the country for a long time. The subject is stale and not handled humanly.

The protagonist or any character are very mediocre and only present the situation in a mundane form, again, the humane factor went missing.

Aamir’s war with the media hasn’t ended as yet. His projection of journalists is full of buffoonery and that’s the only which keeps the movie alive. Media is thrashed to extent of projecting them as jokers, who can run anywhere and say anything.

Again, the subject should have been handled much more sensitively; the plight of farmers and their miserable condition, needs attention and not satire or mockery.
