PAYTM raised a fresh round of funding. One area where the company seems to be spending now is the movie ticketing market. Of late, I’ve started receiving multiple advertisements prompting me to book tickets on the PAYTM App/website, with cashback and discount incentives.
Interestingly, PayTM is still accepted as a payment gateway on BookMyShow(BMS), which is the market leader in this space. At the same time, it is competing with BMS quite aggressively.
Right now there isn’t much difference between the two portals to book a ticket except for the interface. If you’re a movie buff like me, it’s possible that you’re accustomed to the BMS interface and won’t switch to PayTM immediately. Also, BMS has started offering discounts, in a bid to foil PayTM‘s growth.
As is the norm with such wars, the customer is the winner. It’s much cheaper now to book movie tickets online. Now, if only the movies themselves started getting better…
The only drawback of the PAYTM mobile App is that it gets hang if Internet connection is slow. I have faced this problem 2-3 times, the result was double payment on mobile recharge. I called in customer care but they only give you complaint Token no. nobody is available to answer your calls. Overall its a good way of payment in this situation of Demonetisation. I see PAYTM everywhere. recently went to Trade Fair and they were accepting PAyTM. It has a great future in India. I suggest you to register now on it.
