Payback as the name suggests is a reward site. It is an offer which is linked with many banks and financial service providers. So, when you do a purchase transaction with a bank(tied up with payback program) you get certain points. The number of points you get for a transaction depends on the amount spent. At the moment I am using ICICI bank credit card and they are tied up with payback program. So, whenever I spend money on my credit card I earn reward points which are accumulated to my Payback account. The accumulated points can be spent either directly through payback website or through other online and offline channels who are in relationship with payback.
Till date I have earned more than 20, 000 payback points. A few online and offline portals and outlets where one can spend these points are Big Bazaar, Ebay.in, Brand factory, Ezone, Pantaloons etc. I normally use my points through ebay, when I buy something on this site I get the option to pay through these points. I choose the payment option as payback and the points get deducted from the account and the order is placed. Payback charge Rs. 25+service tax for a transaction. A customer has also an option to use the points directly on the payback site. However, they charge very high amount as processing fees which is around Rs. 125+taxes. So, my suggestion is never redeem points directly on their site.
Recently Payback has introduced a program called Payback Bingo. In this program if you shop anything on an online portal through their website you get points for the amount spent. At the moment they pay 1-4 points on Rs. 100 spent. It varies from company to company. They also offer a card which can be used as a swiping card at retails outlets. Customer can pay through the card and points will be deducted automatically from the account. The card comes free of cost and is delivered at the doorstep without any courier charges. On the home page of the website the customer can find the options like earn point, redeem points, offer zone etc.
To be honest they are not user-friendly at all. The main issue is their website and app lags a lot. Just to login it takes 5 minutes. Also, it takes a lot of money to load. If you use any feature on the web and app it takes a long time to switch over which is very irritating and I hardly feel to visit their site again. Also, the navigation system is very poor and it is very difficult to get the desired information.
The customer care is average. I have contacted them a number of times to know about the services. They are available through phone and email. However, their number is not a toll free number but it is a 1860 no. that means if you call them your call will be charged as a local call. When contacted through email they do respond and try to solve the query.
