Patan - Historical City
When we heard Patan We always sing - Chela ji re Patan thi Patoda Monga lavjo
Its meaning hey my man bring costly Patoda from Patan.
Patoda is kind of Silk cloth and its cloth are woven by hand wooden machine. Patan is famous for Patoda, Patoda is very costly and one two houses are now waving its saree and scarf. Its saree cost stast from 1 Laks and One has to book it in advance. I saw the waving process, it is very interesting.
I did ask its scarf price, It was of 25, 000Rs.
I saw two young boys were waving it When I visit it second time one aged uncle was waving it. Its simply hard work to complete a saree.
Another places are Ranki vav, Its beautiful and marvelous carved stepwell. It is richly sculptured monument. It was built by Udaynati in remembrance of her husband Bhima I. At every corner I was exploring different carved idols. All were awesome sculptures specially the Lord Vishnu with Sheshnag behind him in Sleeping position.
Patan is also famous for Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University, It has huge campus and many different courses and colleges from Gujarat are associated with it.
Another attaction is sahastralinga Tank where one find Sahastra Shivlings. The whole city is covered with Fort wall, Which was also interesting for me and this Wall has twelve big gates.
