OK! I recently moved to Chennai from Hyderabad- Just a couple of Months back. As usual, heard a lot of the party scene at Chennai, so much so that was looking forward to pary here. Well, one fine day, me, my friend and his wife wanted to freak out on a wednesday night and heard that Pasha is the place to be on wednesdays. To begin with:
The Place:
Its a liitle cramped with the ground floor having a dance floor and the mezannine being the hangout area. the decor is ispired from Mughal palaces (guess thats why they name it pasha!). It does get a little cramped toward the later part of the nite.
The Service:
Just like most night clubs, this place is a cash and carry service-oriented place. But, even then, you need to know the manager and the bouncer-like bartenders really well if you want yourself served before you wanna take a pee. I am not kidding. It took me 15 minutes to buy two bottles of beer, a vodka with OJ from the bar counter.
What's sad is that guys who were waving, hugging and even licking :) the manager there were getting theri drinks even before they ordered them. Yuk! Where do these Indian Hotels hire their managers from? No wonder they are looked down upon by ppl like me!! Anyways, that's abt it for serve, now lets checkout the drinks.
The Drinks:
The drinks were not pricey compared to any 5 Star hotel across India. Exscept for the choice of beers in the domestic as well as the International section was too limited. They do not carry Heineken and Bass. Fosters is imported here (just like in other pubs in Chennai). So we settled down for a bottle of KF. Nice and Chiiled. The Vodka was Absolut. It was very pricey. Rs. 350 buck!! Round two, we thought of trying the specials there.
Well, the problem with ordering specilas in a place like Chennai is that you never know which brand of the spirits theyae using. They can easly cheat you. What the heck, we went ahead and ordered a Long Island Iced Tea (I had mine topped with the Red Bull and my friend chose the original). It was tasting like you know.. Long Island Iced Tea but... tehre was no Tequila in there. I knew there was no tequila in there.
The investigation: So went to the bar stood by and were waiting for the bartender to make the same drink for someone else. What we saw was really shocking. They claim that they make it with Bacardi/Smirnoff(or Absolut)/Beefeaters/Camino but they used only the India brands. What a smae. Then we thought, who cares.. went on and finished the drinks realizing that we were no where near a buzz. That's it... didn't want to spend anymore time and money at Pasha.... til Friday.
Friday was cool coz we were allowed even as I was single, we came in early, so had a good view of the place and realized that this place is good only after 12. The crowd after 12 were young couple with pleanty of money to spend but had no clue how to. Guys were wearing clothings, only the brotehrs in US would wear. BTW, brothers loog good in those dresses!. The girs swore that they had to shwo off some skin, no matter how ugly it is. Well, that;s abt for Pasha.

Ps: There are other places in Chennai where I am hanging around now. Will write about that soon.
