Well I was quite impressed with HBO when they aired Hitch on the same day as the release of Partner. I happily sat and watched it, even though I had earlier seen it when it had released in the theatres. It turned out to be a bad idea!

Now I did not want to see a Hindi remake of it. Although Hitch wasn’t the greatest of films, but it just seemed nice when seen on television.

So I postponed watching Partner as long as I could.

A boring Sunday evening and there I was - all set to watch Salman and Govinda make history by coming together for a laugh riot for the very first time.

Must say wasn’t too impressed with the first half of the film.

David Dhawan did take the pain of Indianising the film and adding Chhota Don, Katrina’s father and Lara’s son to the story - which was obviously missing in the original.

What however sucked was that whatever was copied - was done frame to frame.

Salman was a treat to watch but Govinda just didn’t seem as cute…

Having said that, have to admit that in the second week the theatre was not only full but the audiences seemed to enjoy the film to the hilt.

Was it the ignorant crowd who hadn’t seen the original? Yes it was, no prizes for guessing that one.

The audience was mainly family crowd and they seemed to laugh just as fine.

I however kept waiting for bits that were new and original.

Loved the scene where Salman thinks Govinda is dead and comes to make peace with his soul. The dialogue writing was funny in bits and pieces and the music very hip and lively.

All in all it was what we love to call a time pass film!

And the best thing again was Salman - how can one man be so gorgeous! It just ain’t fair.
