There is very good news and a very bad news for David Dawan. The very good news is that his latest film PARTNER is opened to full houses. Many in the audience are laughing throughout. The very bad news is that the film is plain average.

There is some common principles one has to follow when one go to watch bollywood comedies. Keep your brain at home, don't ask for logic, if you didn't find a story still you laugh etc. Surely you have to follow all these principles before you plan to watch this movie. Even after that, you may find yourself going crazy as things turnaround.

Salman Khan plays the role of Prem, the Love Guru whose life is dedicated to unite loving couples. Govinda plays the role of Bhaskar, a finance adviser who want to marry young and charming lady boss Priya (Katrina Kaif), who is a multi millioner (read Croreoner). Considering the task is difficult, Bhaskar approaches Prem for help, but prem find the task impossible. To avoid Bhaskar, Prem fly to Thailand to his sister's house. Like a true finance executive (read Mutual fund/Insurance/Credit card sales executive) Bhaskar chase Prem where with the support of Prem's sympathetic sister Bhasker's case been considered in Prem's love files. Prem teaches Bhasker the step by step proceedings and their story continues. Naina (Lara Dutta) is a journalist in Mumbai MaSSala and she was chased by Chota Don (Rajpal Yadav) as she took photographs of him for publication. Prem comes as the savior and the Love Guru's love too started, but only one problem, Naina is a single widower. I will not tell anything more as the story will soon end.

David Dawan succeeded in creating ripples in audience and makes them laugh for a while. However, for any rational viewer some kind of tickling is required to get the laughter out. Having said that, there are some scenes where we may compelled to laugh knowing it is all non sense. In another thought, comedy is laughing at other's faults or inabilities or stupidities and all of the characters in the movie, except of (Lara Dutta & Ali Haji) are having the feature. i.e. look gorgeous and dumb. I believe David Dawan should seriously think of changing his present strategy and use his talents to create good comedies which can be enjoyed even with a little logic and brain. He got a pefect timing to give the effect for a comedy scene which many misses, but what he lacks is good script. The story is pathetic, with loose tags, unnecessarily created drama. However the dialogues are brilliantly written.

Salman Khan plays his role in confidence and in his usual style, where Govinda was given an intentional advantage to bring back his old glory. David Dawan-Govinda combo is back, as refreshing as good old times. I only wished the script was little more supportive. The veteran comedian is really impressive and act with full vigor. Katrina Kaif and Lara Dutta did there small roles well where both looks gorgeous. Lara Dutta however got a little advantage at end, as supported by the script. Katrina is considered as the lucky actress, Lara is establishing her place with good screen presence. Ali Haji as the son of Lara is brilliant and he will be seen in many more bollywood movies. Rest of the cast did their small roles well. Overall performance was excellent.

Music is ok, but the choreography in foreign lands made it colourful. Thailand and Dubai are pictured well and each frame is filled with colour and light which pleases our mind. Costumes are lavish. Between these departments, a lot of money is invested but wondering the effect worth the investment.

Overall, the movie is a simple time pass, if you are ready to tolerate comedy at any cost. There are not many vulgar injected, that is a saving grace. Children might like this movie, especially the scene where a rocket is been fired by mistake and Salman is been chased by it. The honey moon scenes at end, where Bhaskar ask help in his first night, intruding to Prem's bedroom is simply hilarious. Where I was all the way laughing while Govinda explains his financial plans where he walk in four legs on the corporate discussion table of a 100 Core business plan meet. No, the scene was not that hilarious, but I just thought what the director and writer would have thought of the audience while shooting those scenes.

Overall, I am little disappointed after seeing the movie. The theatres are getting good collections and I can hear people laughing all over, but somehow the movie was not to my level of enjoyment. Sorry David Dawan, better luck next time, then please come up with a good script and situations. The movie is recommended for those who love to laugh without any questions, even for silly comic scenes. For others, a perfect No.
