Allo everyone!Bienvenue (welcome) to the city of love!I was, most unfortunately, there for a mere 2 days. But I made the most of those days and fell in love with it.

As with any travel, it is best to plan everything. My trip was not very well planned and so it was not as enjoyable as I envisioned it would be.Better planning next time.

In the month of August, the city is pleasant and totally over-crowded with tourists! You learn the hard way and so there we were in the midst of all the hustle and bustle trying to make sense of the street maps freely available in most hotels and train stations.

The Eiffel Tower is a must see and for a mere 9.90 Euro, you get to take a cable car to the topmost summit of the tower and get a million dollar 360 degree view of Paris! The lines are long, so get a small picnic to keep you company!

We walked from the Eiffel Tower to the Arc de Triomphe. A magnificent structure to end the promenade down the Champs Elysees. When Napoleon ordered the construction of an arch to glorify the Grand Army in 1806, I wonder if he had any idea of the impact the arch would have on people for generations to come.

The evening found us on the crossroad in front of the Moulin Rouge! Ah! the famous Oscar-winning movie of the year and here I am in front of the legend! A short walk up the red carpet found us in front of this huge black french man telling us we needed reservations. I scuttled away with the pamphlet of the Moulin Rouge tucked away in my purse. The prices are high; the cheapest you can get away with is 69 euros for a half bottle of champagne and the show. I can bet that that seat is so far away from the main show, I might need binoculars to see anything! I may be wrong but I don't know that for sure because I did not have the time to reserve and stay for a show. But always remember that one may not visit the city again and to make the most of ones stay there.Oh! don't forget that you need to dress formally for the show. It is fundamental and is indicated on the pamphlets they give you.

The Notre Dame de Paris is a monument one cannot miss. Though not as large as I imagined it to be, the intricate design and gothic architecture takes one breath away. The dark interiors give it a depth and lends goosebumps to the skin!

The Louvre is impossible to miss. It is immense and imposing in structure. Again, we walked from the Notre Dame and took in a few other sights.

A walk on the Seine river is highly recommended. Though not the cleanest (thanks to tourists with slippery fingers), the walk down the river lends a different view to the city of Paris. Paintings and sculptures of famous artists lie there in residence and await your admiration.

The last place we visited was the Basilique du Sacre-Coeur. This church is not given the prominence and importance it so deserves. We were greeted by the organ-grinder. This man thrilled me to bits with his singing and eloquent gestures.

All in all, the parisians were very polite and very helpful.I was lucky. They didn't speak much english but it was okay since I do not speak much French! With a map, it is easy to get around the place. I would also recommend one visit this place in the spring or autumn although the weather is beautiful all year round. Au revoir and bonne chance on your visit to Paree!
