When you are in love…there can be some other feeling to that. You can’t just wake up in the morning, take a shower, go for work and see this really nice person and say ''I’m in love''. That is just more like an attraction in my sense. Don’t get me wrong, looks are a part of loving someone. Though, the real meaning of it comes from the deepest part of your heart. Something which just captures you in one whole bunch as if you feel everything in the world has come true (I think). You have this feeling for someone special that is unable to change.

Hmm, you all must be thinking ”Where are all these thoughts of love coming from Anusha? Is she in love?” Hehe, well yeah. Sonu ;) BUT actually the main reason for these thoughts of love which I was able to express was after watching this movie.

The Director - Pradeep Sarkar

For creating such a love story I really like this guy! I must say that to be a director you have to be extremely alert of how things go in the movies you are making. For any such mistakes people may not seem to like the film at all. Though, this director has got everything in this movie. He has chosen the actors really nicely as well. These kind of love stories sometimes don’t appeal to people that much, but this guy has done a wonderful job at it. Many different sections of the movie have also gotten some Zee Cine Awards.

Story:

Shekar and Lolita are both brought up being together always. They like spending time with each other. Shekar is born and brought up in one of those big shot rich people’s house. Though, Shekar sees love at a totally different aspect. He likes keeping his distance to it. Though, he is the type of guy who’s life revolves around happiness and come to think of it, music also plays apart in his life when it come to Love. Shekar cannot spend a nice, musical and happy day without being with Lolita. There was love between them of course, the love witch can be covered as blind. However, it was there, their togetherness showed it.

Now..Navin Rai, the father of Shekar has always kept a good eye on the next door house- which Lolita lives in with her uncle, cousin and aunt. Navin Rai ( I swear he's evil to the core), pays for their house, however knowing that they would not be able to pay it back. Lolita on the other hand, works at Rai’s office and hears about the news. She somehow tries finding a way to get back the money and pay as soon as possible.

This is where Girish enters. Girish is an NRI from England and he helps Lolita’s family. Though he did it because he was in love with Lolita. After Lolita was able to give the money before it was too late, Rai finds his plan was ruined. The plan in which he had set up in order to get the house which Lolita lives in with her family. His anger for her gains. Then, he embarrasses Lolita and accuses her for being a prostitute- taking her out from her job. Wherein Shekar is then brainwashed by his Dad that Lolita was just using him (Shekar).

He starts hating Lolita as well. Though, Shekar is unable to bear the thought that Lolita would do such a thing. After Lolita’s uncle died, Shekar found out that Lolita and Girish were going to get married. Shekar begins to feel depressed and play his music. He becomes fully controlled over his Father where he accepts the hand in marriage with another girl, Gayatri Tanta. Will Lolita actually marry Girish? Heck, will Shekar even marry the girl he doesn’t feel love for? Will Shekar bow down to his fathers wishes forever or stand up for his rights- knowing that his father is an evil guy?

Characters:

I would like to start of with the newcomer Vidya Balan who played the role as Lolita. She is a beautiful girl no doubt. I feel that her role was brilliant enough to suit her wonderful personality. Every dialogue she said, every expression she made and gosh, I think the way she seemed to act brought sheer brilliance into my mind! I have not seen someone act so well that also as a newcomer in such a role.

Then here we come out with Saif Ali Khan who acted as Shekar. I can say this was one of his best films ever. He brought in such a mood into the movie. Sadness, happiness, loads of depression and heck, lots of anger! Wonderful chemistry done with all the other actors and his dialogues are said so well, well enough to just make you wanna rewind it (for the people who have DVD’s of course ;)). I seemed to fall in love with him after this movie.

Last but not least we have the role of Girish played by Sanjay Dutt. Nicely acted out as I can say. His performance was mature and just what the movie needed. He infact seemed pretty mature apart from some of his other films.

Other actors in the movie include Raima Sen who played the role as Lolita’s cousin and Dia Mirza as Gayatri Tanta. Good acting.

Picturisation and Music:

The music can just blow you away! The music is all by Shantanu Moitra. Each set of lyrics in each songs are just so magical and bring a good feeling to the album. The music is also very melodious itself. The song Piya Bole seems very nicely picturised and gosh…the wordings are just so melodiously sung by Shreya Ghoshal and Sonu Nigam. Shreya got an Award for that song.

Kasto Mazza was also kind of colorful to look at. I loved the wordings as well. Kaisi Paheli Zindgani where Rekha (jawani kabhi jaati nahi) makes a special appearance will just “wow” you with the picturisation. All the other songs like Raat Humari Ho and Soona Mann Ka Aangan are also really nice but not as nice as these songs in particular which I have mentioned.

The Dialogues In General:

That was one part I really payed attention to in the movie. Each character has brought each dialogue to something special in the movie. I dont know how they did it. Vidya says her dialogues nicely enough which makes her character as someone very reserved. Saif...i was blown away at his way of making a speech whilst coming to the ending of the movie. Sanjay Dutt of course really brings out maturness with the way he speaks his dialogues. It brings out a good appearance overall with the whole movie. You feel you are watching everything happening right infront of you and not on screen.

Last Thoughts

The movie brings out such a new aspect of what love can be like. Most people find the movie as just total crap which I disagree off. Ah, well everyone is entitled to their own opinions, hence the 5 star rating for my own thoughts that the film totally rocked and it’s one of the best movies I have seen actually.

Thanks for reading. Do rate and comment. Would love to know you thoughts :)
