Parineeta Songs
Originality:
The ingenuineness of this review appears doubtful. Justify your opinion.
I feel this review is:
Its been a mixed year so far musically. But all the hit songs have mostly been the stereotypical and wudnt go down as memorable ones in years to come. I mean theres always have to be songs which are popular even there only merit is the lack of merit in other songs. But this is not the case with this album. Its a rare collection of songs packed with melody. They do remind us of R.D Burman mayb coz of choice of instruments or mayb just coz the sounds are of the same quality. Tabla is used to a great effect in the The first song to be aired on TV is Piyu bole and rightly so. it is I think the most catchy song of the movie and one will fall in luv with it instantly hearing the first line only. another special thing about this one is that it starts off with Saif's humming and mayb strumming. (Hes a known guitarist in the movie as well as in real life). and then sweet voice of Shreya takes over. She is sure improving song by song. theres the unmistakable 'khanak' in her voice.. mischievous and utterly melodious. Sonu is superb as usual. The voice modulations bring life to the song.. the subtle and (un)suppressed smiles are just too good. Theres another slow version of this song titled as Hui mai Parineeta as the title song. It doesnt take ne imagination to guess that it holds a very strong meaning in the context of the story. the lyrics are so meaningful specially those that lead to the words Parineeta . the mood is about giving it all to the lover. Next song worth mentioning is Soona mann ka aangan. It starts with Sonu singing with piano in the background. He certainly seems to have worked quite hard for this one. he has tried to change his voice somewhat to suit the wistful mood and the haunting memories. and then again Shreya takes over with her magically voice. And when she sings everything stops.. even the instruments. simply amazing. 'Raat humari to' introduces a new voice in Swanand. Would like to hear more from him in time to come. he's got a different texture in his voice.. somewhat coarse. I havent heard Chitra in long time. this seems to be a good comeback. becomes shrill at times but its been her style. good piece of poetry again in this one. The album displays a great variety with a Jazz kinda song 'Kaisi Paheli zindagani'. Very british in sounds. Then theres a grandma (or is it mausi) song with nice hard hitting dholak in it. 'Kasto Mazza' is an OK song supposedly on a train with lots of kids in it. Mayb it will pick up once the video is released. All in all a must buy. Its an experimentation which will u remind of old songs.
