He will go down in history of Indian hockey as one of the great sardar to play hockey for India along with Ajit pal singh, Balbir Singh etc.
Had he kept his temper in control he would have served Indian hockey better. I still remember his onslaught on Germany goal in 1986 champions ship trophy when India was 5 goals to nothing down ,he got the scores at level in last 10 minutes.
Great defender with ability to move in surprise move to surprise opponents with a goal was his plus point in counter attack moves.
He also goes down as a coach of Indian team with shortest tenure. IF he keeps his temper under control, he will serve Indian hockey in years to come as a coach or may be as a selector.He must start as coach for state level, and graduate to senior level in due course. I wish him all the best.
