Hi! I'm not a big fan of Kingfisher at all. I'd choose Paramount any day of the week! I mean, the man behind KF has style and élan, I’ll give you that, but apart from the larger than life image of Mr Mallya(who often reminds me of a haywire movie star with his flamboyance and babe power), there really isn’t much to his airline but pure hype. The Kingfisher airhostesses are hot, but incredibly rude. I had to wait twenty minutes for an extra bottle of water in-flight once and that really pissed me off. The seats in KF are worse than Economy(unless you take the horrendously expensive KF first class. They give you a gaudy complimentary box, but inside is a very sad looking ball point pen at the end of it all, as if to commiserate with your experience so you can write it off!

Paramount on the other hand(I’m a frequent flyer on the Chennai-Kochi and CBE routes) offers a lot more value for money, class, style and substance. While the air-hostesses are good looking, its clear that they’re not airhead models and that they really want to serve you. And its not just inflight. Everywhere else, from ticketing, check-in, valet service, to the meals served in-flight, the experience was truly enjoyable. Their first class is awesome. Lots of leg room and I had a plate of assorted cheese, salad, tuna casserole for the main meal and some delicious buttermilk beforehand. They used to offer tender coconut water which was cool too. Dunno if that’s stopped tho. I stay off soft drinks when I fly Paramount. The buttermilk is just out of this world, so when you have that option, why douse your insides with pesticide right?

My wife and child travelled from Kochi to Chennai and back recently. My six-year-old daughter is prone to motion sickness and vomits severely. That’s why we take flights wherever we can, but even then, she’s always giddy and struck with nausea. On this particular trip, my wife was raving about how caring Paramount’s airhostesses were.  Apparently, three of them took good care of Anita, tucking her in, giving her extra sweets, even extra toys and a pad and paper for her to draw. They subtly had the airsickness bag at hand at all times—lol, but this was the first time Ani didn’t vomit on a flight! Could be because they had good weather that day and Paramount generally is more comfortable and flies smoother than the others on that route. As a result, now, both the ladies in my house won’t travel by any other airline. At least, I got some good points for booking my wife on Paramount—lol! She may be from Venus and I may be from Mars, but its nice to know that both of us  see eye to eye on domestic travel on Paramount. Hehehe.

Seriously though, it was above and beyond what they were expected to do and plus, being a full flight, it must’ve been quite remarkable to give the care that they did. Paramount flies all short sectors, 1 hour flights across South India, I think. I feel these guys are equal to International standards and the bottom line is, they care about you. Not just dumb dolls dressed up in red, showing off their nice legs! Who cares about glam power when you’re on a flight? It’s all about service and Paramount’s was impeccable. Perhaps off a plane, KF’s airhostesses(or should I say airheads), might interest a man more! Lol!

One thing I can’t understand with Paramount is—why should they fly only South when they have a national license? Maybe they think it makes sense to expand slowly cos they’d be taking on the likes of Jet and KF, but there again, no competition really! PA is head and shoulders above both these ‘established’ airlines in every aspect. But, there’s no telling if the service of Paramount will remain the same when they expand on a national level. I think that’s what they want to ensure before moving ahead. In todays competitive arena, is the slow and steady strategy a good one really? I guess time will tell.
