We(my wife, 2 kids 4 & 10 yrs resp) stayed at the resort from May11-14 2009.

Arrival:

We arrived at Mangalore station(from Chennai) at 10 AM and got picked up by the car sent by the resort on our request. We reached the resort at 11.10 and checked in to our room. 9We were charged 1250 for a AC car - distance covered 60 kms)

Our first impresssions of the resort

Nothing fancy for a so called Rs 6000 Deluxe sea facing room. A simple room with a sea facing view though. The first shock came when my son went into the bathroom and complained that there is no water. I checked it myself and called the room service and was promised to be taken care of.

I was told after an argument that the water pipe got burst the PREVIOUS day and it will be restored very soon. It did get restored after 3 hours(approx 02.00 PM). Till such time we were provided with 3-4 buckets of water and we managed. We had a late lunch. So far so good. Managed to get a auto to go to Udupi visit the temple and come back after finishing our dinner at the Mitra Samaj.

Day 2

No hot water in the bathroom. This time the reason - the boiler is not functioning and is being repaired. This time around we got 3 buckets of HOT water sent to our room. So much so for all the modern fittings in our bathroom. I though that I could soak myself in the tub and relax. I was told curtly at the reception that hot water is indeed available and one of the hotel staff went to check only to find that the status is the same. We fixed the same driver and visited Kollur and Murudeshwar and were told that it will cost 2300(Non A/c)

That evening I had a big argument with the staff about the poor service and as promised 2 complimentary dinners.

Day 3

Same complaint. No hot water. This time around we did not ask for hot water. Finished our breakfast and booked a private motor boat to St Marys Island(Rs 1200). In the afternoon we arranged for the same cab for a half day sightseeing to karkala and manipal. The charge Rs 1650(non a/c). We skipped Dharmasthala/Subramanya.

Day 4

We checked out at 12:20 and paid the bill. I bargained hard to settle the cab cost at Rs 4300 The resort did not keep their word about the complimentary dinner though- one of the dinners was charged! The total cost worked out to approx 26K.

Overall

Bad experience(and bad planning from my end!). Staff at the hotel is shameless and do not speak any language properly. Food is the only saving grace Avoid at all costs!
