The convenience of having a beauty salon within the company campus is a very rare luxury. Or wait. Is it?
I am talking about the Papillon salon, a chain of salons having branches in Koregaon Park, Bhandarkar Road, Kothrud etc.
We have one branch at Infosys techonologies but I don’t think it is any different from the other branches, as the management is the same everywhere.
Let me enlist a few good points about this salon before diving into the negatives
the pricing is okay and comparable to other salons. A face clean up costs Rs.250, eyebrows threading Rs.20, upper lips Rs.10, chin Rs.10.
They have a full waxing package reasonably priced in which you can get full hands, full legs, under arms waxed.
Good for routine stuff like waxing, threading or even a face clean rarely if you are in the hands of an experienced trainer. Always make sure you know the most experienced person at Papillon is, as there are not too many.
Pedicures are average but quite okay
Well, I wish I could go on, but there ends the list of positives.
Negatives
Lack of experienced staff as most of the experienced staff do leave this salon due to lack of recognition and problems with the management. The experienced staff were very good and a lot of clients were disappointed when they disappeared suddenly and only the bad ones were left behind. Clearly, a fault of the management to not being able to retain their star performers. Well, this does affect the service provided to customers.
the staff is not encouraged to provide good service and they simply rush from one client to another, even not bothering when you actually express your disappointment for a particular service rendered by them. They are just pestered by their manager to move on to the next customer without waiting to resolve the irate customer's problems.
And to think you are actually paying for their'service'!
Standards of hygiene are questionable as I saw the lady use the same sponge to wash one client's face after she had just used it previously and then just rinsed it with plain water.
Quality of service is poor. Hence, you cant get any trickier services like a head massage, advanced facials, manicures etc done here. The staff do not even know how to apply nail polish making it goopy and messier! Head massage was more of a headache and the facial was a waste with a thin droopy face pack applied at the end!
Salon manager is a single owner who is clearly not interested in the service provided to customers and does not bother about repeat business. She keeps nagging the staff as well, leading to a lot of murmur going on in the background when she is around.
6 Quality of products used is doubtful and cheap and the branded beauty products used by them are not on display which led me to wonder whether the facial was really worth Rs.500?
IMHO, for working ladies, this place is only good if you do not have time to spare on weekends for your beauty rituals.
For basic grooming purposes like waxing, threading, pedicures, or a clean up by an experienced person only this place is okay.
For anything else, you are wasting your time and precious money here!
Am only recommending it for the above services and not for facials, hair cuts, hair treatments etc.
And next time do refuse to be served by a less experienced person. When you call the salon for appointments, ask who the most experienced person is. If you are not in a tearing hurry, you could do yourself some good by waiting for a day or so for the experienced person to be available.!
