Ever felt happy about a product that you bought amidst doubts but whose performance was more than expected? Well I am.

5 years back, visiting a TV store keeping in mind brands viz. LG or igo, I was drawn by this TV in one corner of the store. Sun TV was showing and the image quality blew others away. I blindly decided to settle for this piece and this has been working great till now. Panasonic is the world's largest Consumer Electronics brand and the performance of this TV is good enough to prove it! Unlike SONY, Samsung or LG, Panasonic TVs' presence may not be "felt" in India but they have made record by manufacturing largest # of CRT TVs ever.

(visit http://www.panasonic.co.in/web/ImgCont/1747/081007Panasonic300milTVSets.pdf)

While conventionally it is said that the Trinitron picture tube patented and manufactured by Sony** delivers the best pictures I feel only this TV can rival it.

Reason: The Panasonic flat CRT TVs consist of "QuintrixF" picture tubes that have benn produced since 1974. The word "Quintrix" originated from the Latin word "Quint", which mean "five". It seems the picture tube consists of 5 advanced elements viz.:

*1. Faceplate,

  1. Super Shadow Mask,

  2. Astigmatism eliminating Electron Gun,

  3. Deflection Yoke **and

*5. Super Pigment Phosphor.

The resultant image is brilliant and yields far more image depth and color naturality on NGC, zOOm TV compared to mass brands TVs viz. LG, Samsung, Videocon, harking back to the old CRTs like Hitachi, National and Grundig. Believe me the red color is absolutely blood red as compared to cheap Korean & Indian TVs. I watched many movies viz Matrix III, STAR WARS II, LOTR etc. and found watching them on this TV to be a pleasure. The color saturation in Matrix's action scenes and STAR WARS' war sequences are spectacular - there is a certain 3D look to the images that make me go lost into a digital world.  It is definitely a great model for the quality seeking budget minded people as this TV's image quality is very good yet less cost than SONY. Now Panasonic has also launched the slim CRT TVs in India that are 30% slimmer. And Panasonic 29" TVs come at around 9, 500/- only now a days. Isn't that Bang for the buck?

My model has a half mute function to reduce sound to 50%. Favorite channels can be marked for quick selection. And there is AV stereo, Wake Up Timer etc.

It has flaws too. The image is not shown corner to corner - some part of the picture gets cut. Apart from the pic. quality, other factors are good enough. This model lacks Digital Comb Filter & sound Woofer. Unlike SONY, the volume does not increase uniformly.may be because it's assembled in India. No DVD Component Input too.

Verdict: Flaws aside, a great buy that will definitely raise the eyebrows of all its buyers for the picture quality.
