PANASONIC PLASMA- BAD BUYING EXPERIENCE

Recently I bought Panasonic Plasma from its brand shop in Delhi. I have gone through a bad buying experience and want to share with you. I have divided this review in 3 parts covering the company Panasonic India, Brand shop and Bajaj Finance.

Panasonic India – When the product was delivered by showroom, I was shocked to see the packing. It was very ordinary and did not give feeling of buying a new unused product. When you buy an expensive electronic item, it’s the concern that it should not be the demonstration unit or the used one. I immediately tried the Panasonic India help line but there was no response. So I sent an email describing about my feelings. The mail was bounced twice and seems that it has not reached them otherwise the company of this stature would have replied by now. I am highly dissatisfied.

Panasonic Brand Shop(K SQUARE NETWORK), 90, Raja Garden, New Delhi – When we visited the showroom, we were promised of maximum finance through Bajaj Finance Company as I could not afford to buy by 100% down payment. So we paid them the token advance of Rs. 35, 000 and thought it will be adjusted in our share to pay. After 2-3 days we got a call from dealer to come with required documents for finance formalities. He had told us about 0% finance and around 1500/- to be paid as file charges for a deal of Rs. 1 lakh.

But when we reached the showroom, he expressed the inability for full finance as Bajaj Finance had changed policy and was asking for insurance premium on this loan amount. This scheme was working out expensive and dealer also discouraged to go for it. He expressed his inabilities because of finance company policies and asked to go for 25, 000/- loan in name my and wife’s name. Since I had taken a loan earlier from Bajaj Finance around 2-3 years back for refrigerator, he didn’t demand much documents from me. That means now he offered 50, 000/- finance. So we paid another 10, 300/- in order to take this scheme. Forms were filled up and product was delivered next day. It got installed same day.

BAJAJ AUTO FINANCE LIMITED(BAFL) - 45, 300/- paid to dealer, product delivered and installed. After two days local person of BAFL calls and informs that madam’s case is through but your case is refused. I asked for reasons but he was not sure of any. Then he mentioned that could be the earlier loan taken by you had bad track record. I was furious with his reply and demanded an explanation; he handed over phone to dealer.

I told them that I have loan completion certificate from BAFL and they have given a reference number for availing any future loan on preferential basis. BAFL man again comes on line and asked whether it was a personal or consumer loan. To this I read the reference number starting with CD. He confirms that it was consumer durable and there should be no problems now. I am asked to leave photocopy of that letter, which I did next day. Suddenly after 10-12 days, when I was in Rishikesh, I got a call from dealer that sorry case is not through and has to be settled.

My questions to these people

Dealer – Why did you provide wrong information about finance? From 100% you came down to 50% and now to 25%, is it a joke? What was urgency to close the deal? Was it a fear that customer may go to other brand or shop? Who is responsible for my agony?

BAJAJ AUTO FINANCE LIMITED – Why are you not transparent? Why do you not customer directly? Why your people are not aware of facts before calling up? How can you refuse the loan to a customer who had good track record and was acknowledged by you?
