We have been using the Panasonic UF770 Fax in our office for over 5 years now. This machine has held up well under medium usage. I would definitely recommend it to others, but with technology and it's progress I'm sure this machine has been replaced by a newer model at this time. So...we will just recommend Panasonic Faxes to you.

Ok, so you ask what sold me on this machine? I am the administrative specialist here and usually it is my job to obtain specifications on new office equipment. The features that sold me on this model were:

Specifications

1) Plain Paper: Use of plain paper over those rolls of shiny paper that always run out overnight or over the weekend, thus causing the machine to exceed memory storage and hence, lose information/faxes.

2) Speed: This model scans documents and stores them into memory at apx. 3 seconds per page. You don't have to sit and wait until transmission is completed to get your original documents back or out of the machine.

3) Maintenance Free...well almost: All you have to do here is change out the toner when it is empty.

4) Functions: The memory on this machine allows you to store up to 35 pages, receive a fax while a document is being stored to send out, you can set up special files in memory to store specified documents, confidential mailboxes can be set up, and my favorite...one touch dialing!

5) Print Quality: The print quality is very good. This model has 64-level Grey Scale and uses error diffusion technology. Received documents are clear, photographs are more than presentable.

6) Paper Trays: This machine has 2 regular size paper trays (8.5 x 11) and 1 legal size drawer. I have found this an essential asset for the machine never runs out of paper with the backup tray!

This machine is on the bulky side and takes up more room than newer and more conventional models. I would say this is the biggest drawback.

All in all this is a very reliable machine. We have only had to call for service once over the years of use and it was only for a minor adjustment.
