Located on the southern most tip of Goa, Palolem is possibly one of the loveliest beaches on the west coast of India. Remember Matt Daemon jogging on the beach in Bourne Supremacy? It is the same beach. The beach is shallow and around the time we went there(December 22nd to 28th) there were few waves. The result: It was almost like getting into a salt water swimming pool.

Palolem has a lot of beach shacks which provide both tree houses and coco huts with attached baths. The price per day could range anywhere between Rs.500 to Rs.1200 depending on which time of the year it is. The beach is clean and you could hire surf boards and inflatable rubber dingies. This time I went I found some dolphin cruises also. Food on the beach is pretty decent and you can choose from a wide variety of Indian, continental and even Israeli food. In case you would like to check out Goan food you will have to go into the village. Liquor costs vary from one shack to the other. After some researching we found that some of them serve liquor at more reasonable rates than some other.

Paolem is also close to another lesser developed, but highly scenic beach called Agonda, some 15 to 20 km away. It is the ideal place to go to if you want to stay away from crowd and chill out.

Among the shacks at Palolem I recommend Cafe Del Sol, if you want to stay bang on the beach. If you dont mind trekking up to the top of a hill adjoining the beach check out Neptune Point.

If you are driving to Palolem from Margao it's some 30 kms or so on the road to Cancona. In case you are driving from Karnataka it is a similar distance from Karwar.
