PDAs the new world

I happen to meet a friend who is using PDA and got some information to share. Its really cool one, not for heavy works but ofcourse for immediate requirements.

The PDA will have a little weight OS, to cope with urgent requirements but ofcourse a very important one. A PDA is small, lightweight(or else I can just carry my laptop to meetings) and have small application footprints so the apps load fast and can be killed if needed. Now, killing an app that behaves badly still is a problem with PalmOS, but there are third party apps that will help to minimize that. We need small, light devices that do what we need them to do, when we need them to do it. Waiting for the OS to allocate resources is NOT an option.

The Palm OS, without a doubt, is the better operating system. It's much easier to use, much faster, much more stable, and makes more sense. Windows was built for desktop systems, which have too many programs and files to simply put them on a big icon menu. Hence the Start Menu. The PDA, however, is much simpler. That's the point of getting a Palm device instead of a handheld one with a keyboard. It fits in your pocket, you pull it out, write a schedule, put it back in. Additionally, the Palm OS has a tremendous following, which is, in my opinion, the only reason that the Palm OS still owns so much of the market.

The current Palm users are all loyal and enjoy the 3rd party programs available. Microsoft, based on the way they usually operate, will work as hard as possible to link all of the new Microsoft CE devices. So you could link your CE PDA to your car computer, get out of the car, use the CE cell phone, connected to the CE PDA, to access the Internet wirelessly. This, and the fact that most new consumers don't research enough to know that getting a simple Palm device is better than getting a Windows device that they're used to.

Looks like technology will make man lazier than ever:)
