Dear readers,

I have this car (Palio ELX) since March 2002. Every thing in the car is perfect except...! We'll come to it. The interiors are good, the AC is effective, the transmission is scintillating.

The car is made perfectly for Indian conditions. The shockers do not let you feel the road bumps. The engine is silent too. Except for the little too noisy radiator fan, sometimes blowing at full speed even when the car is shut off (since its automatic). The interiors as mentioned before are alright. If these guys would have had an other than plastic dash board for the ELX and above, would have been appreciated.

The car maneuvers very well on the roads. It has a big car feel. Considering, Fiats Siena, I think it looks like Siena without the boot. If you are long footed, and wear those heavy duty high heal shoes, you would find the foot getting stuck in the foot area.

The major issue with the car is its milage. It gives on Delhi roads with AC max. of 11.4 km/lt, and a minimum of 10 km/lt. On highways the car would give a max of 13km/lt provided you donot zip it beyond 90 kmph speed, other wise the milage slips back to the city one. By the way I have been using petrol along with the additive for MPFI engines from BPCL/IOL etc.

The other issue is that it does not pick the desired acceleration ONLY on highways at high speed. For instance, it feels as if it will take ages to overtake another vehicle on 4th/5th gear at a speed of 80 if the vehicle is traveling at say 85 kmph. The fastest acceleration happens in the 3rd gear. The 1.6l. model of Fiat Palio does not have this issue.

All in all for city dwellers, it is a good car, if you donot mind the low average (which is expected out of small cars)

Bye for now folks. I hope you would like this review.
