So we have come a long way since Independance. At least a lot of time has passed. Along with all that water below the bridge etc.
What next ?
I see 3 scenarios. Two of them Obvious. The third I leave you to guess for now....somthing that surprised my friends (not indians) when I mentioned it.
Numero Uno: The Chalta-hai Approach:

Nothing will change. We will continue to bicker about land... terrorism... who took what when. People will continue to die. Politics and biased views will flourish.
Money will be spent/squandered/abused for a NON-cause... just as we limped for over 50 years we will continue... for how long? I dotn know.
Dos (Two):
----------
Things get heated, both countries have another war.. many casualties. Either once and for all things are settled via international intervention. India wins and thats it. For now. Till trouble starts brewing again.... in another decade or so we might be at this very position . all over again. OR. We loose. We loose Kashmir..we loose the war. and we loose face. Then come the Hindu fanatics. and cause a civil war within India. Till some sort of steady state is reached , not by a peacefull arbitration, but lack of interest in continuing to kill one another.
This outcome is more drastic.. more dramatic and more conclusive in some sence... temporarilly.
Ok finished guessing as to #3?...
Nummer Drei (No. 3)

If east ans west germany can unite... and deal with the consequences...poverty in east etc why cant we? India and Pakistan can unite. Kashmir can be set free. Is'nt that what Pakistan wants? A FREE KASHMIR? :).... Or Kashmir can be part of India and Pakistan... I even have a name for our new country...Industan... From the Indus Valley right where we all came from... a lost civilization.. once again revived.
I doubt this will last long. Once united there will be initial friction... which shall abate... Kasmir shall flourish. We shall no longer loose in Cricket to Pakjistan, we have a better team :). The world will pour money in now that the region is stabilized.
But small groups shall always prove to be a proble. They will still want to probvoke communal riots/differences... its a Gambit (gamble for the others). I would take that chance. At least we then have a cool twist in history books to study and a cooler name for a country like -
INDUSTAN !
PS : Not all will like this idea...like IMRAN. I wonder why. Would you rther continue to fight? and over what? Its sad but as was once said in ''Politically Incorrect''.... its because of idiots like you that more sane people liek us will have to die (in the context of environmental pollution and global warming).
