Pakistan is a better team than India

Pakistan is a better team than India. This isn?t just a wild comment designed to inflame hate from Indians, it?s just a bit of research I did to find out who is better. Facts do not lie, and that is all I have used in this post to prove my point. And the results are pretty clear and comprehensively suggest that Pakistan is a better team than India. How did I get to this conclusion, I hear you all ask. Well before I tell you I?ll explain the reason for writing this post.

I was browsing the reviews on here a few days ago and stumbled on a review by a fellow called aysis. He basically wrote a review, and in it he took the piss out of some of the Pakistani players and the Pakistan team. He actually made me laugh with some of his ridiculous comments and stupid facts. Now this guy?s review was written in 2001, so there was no point in commenting on it, or attacking the guy who wrote it. Instead I decided to write my own review, but using facts that really matter to prove that between Pakistan and India, Pakistan is the better team. I decided the best way to do this was to compare how the two teams have fared against each other. Therefore all the stats below are ONLY for matches between Pakistan and India.

Test Matches:

  1. Pakistan and India have played 50 test matches. 27 in India and 23 in Pakistan. Out of these Pakistan have won 10, India 7, and 33 have been drawn.

  2. Out of these test matches the highest innings total has been scored by Pakistan. They scored a whopping 699/5 in the 3rd test of the 1989/90 series in Lahore. India?s highest total is 675/5 in the 1st test of the 2004 series at Multan.

  3. The lowest test innings score between these two is attributed to India. They were bowled out for a lowly 106 in the 2nd test of the 1952 series. Pakistan won this match by an innings and 43 runs. Pakistan?s lowest total is 116 all out in the 5th test of the 1984 test in Bangalore. The amazing thing is Pakistan STILL won this match by 16 runs!

  4. The player who got the most runs in meetings between these two is Javed Miandad who?s record is 2228 runs 28 matches 39 innings highest score 280* average 67.51 hundreds 5.

ODI?s

  1. Findings in ODI matches are pretty one sided. Pakistan and India have played a grand total of 94 ODI matches. 14 have been played in India, 20 in Pakistan, and 60 at a neutral venue. Pakistan have won 57 to India?s 33 (and 4 no results), a huge lead of 24 wins.

  2. India has scored the highest total between theses teams, but also the lowest. If you look at the highest Pakistan only trail by 5 runs (1st ODI of 2004 series at Karachi. India 349/7 Pakistan 344/8). However if you look at the lowest scores India have been bowled out for 79 (in the 2nd ODI of the 1979 match in Sialkot), compared to Pakistan?s 87 (in 1st ODI at Sharjah in 1985). The difference in this match is 8 runs, giving Pakistan a lead of 3 runs (8-5=3).

  3. The highest individual score in an ODI between the two. This one?s not even close. Saeed Anwar holds the world record for the highest ODI innings which is 194. Guess who that was against? Yep it was India in the 6th ODI of the Pepsi Cup in 1997 at Chennai. The closest Indian doesn?t even get past 150; Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar have both notched up 141 which is still a full 53 runs behind Anwar.

  4. Best bowling figures? Sourav Ganguly 5 for 16 looks impressive doesn?t it? Not next to Aqib Javed?s 7 for 37 at the Sharjah final in 1991 which Pakistan won by 72 runs, or Imran Khans 6 for 14 At Sharjah in 1985.

  5. Saeed Anwar has the best batting figures of 50 matches 48 Innings 2002 runs highest score 194 average 43.52 and 4 hundreds.

  6. Wasim Akram had the best bowling figures of 48 matches 60 wickets at an average of 25.15. Saqlain Mushtaq is not far behind in second place with 36 matches 57 wickets at an average of 24.38. In fact the top three bowlers are all Pakistanis, Aqib Javed taking the third spot with 54 wickets from 39 matches at an average of 24.64.

Well to sum up.

In Test Matches:

Pakistan have won more matches

Smacked India around for the most runs in an innings

Bowled them out for the lowest total

Javed Miandad has scored the most runs

In ODI?s Pakistan have destroyed the Indians by doing the following:

Winning far more matches

Saeed Anwar has a world record against the Indians

Two Pakistanis (Aqib Javed and Imran Khan) have taken the most wickets in an innings

A Pakistani (Saeed Anwar) has scored the most runs

Three Pakistanis (Wasim Akram, Saqlain Mushtaq, and Aqib Javed) have taken the most wickets

The results above are pretty conclusive aren?t they? I know I keep repeating this point but the truth really is that Pakistan are a better team than India. Pakistani players seem to have great success against the Indians, and they are not a good enough match for us. Indian players cannot hold their nerve as well as Pakistanis, and lose their bottle. If you look at yesterdays ICC tournament match you'll see that Pakistan did well bowling to the Indians in the last few overs.

They picked up a couple of crucial wickets, especially Dravids who couldnt seem to handle the pressure of the situation (normally so cool, he lost his temper against Shoaib for no reason). Now compare that to Paksitans last few overs. In the hectic atmosphere and wickets falling all around him Youhanna kept his nerve brilliantly. He guided his team to the line, even after suffering an injury. Not to mention Afridi hitting Pathan for two consecutive sixes as if he was playing in a Sunday league match.

Personally I think the Indian team is way overated, mainly by Indian fans who think that their teams sh*t doesnt smell. Most of the players are average, with only a few being of world class. The thing about Indian fans is that they are crazed about the players, and employ a double standard. They'll worship them like Gods when they're doing well, and on the other hand treat them like dirt when they are having a bad patch . Even Rahul Dravid made fun of them at the ICC awards by cracking a joke on how he hopes that the fans stop burning effigies of him now that he's won an award.

Well done to the Pakistan team for their victory over India. What a great knock by Youhanna. He showed his class by keeping his cool and playing some great shots. And what about Shahid Afridi? I hope them sixes don?t mentally scare the young Pathan, suffice to say he wont be forgetting about them anytime soon.

Pakistan may not be the most organised team in the world, but their sheer talent and resolve is what wins them games.
