I disliked important news, because they are prone to become unimportant. And soon they do become unimportant. Instead, unimportant news is more consistent in remaining unimportant. That?s why I preferred reading unimportant news. Yah! I preferred reading PAGE 3, until???..

The Inside Story: PAGE 3 is the most colorful page of the daily newspaper, but it is easy to realize that the stories behind those unimportant pages are far from what they appear to be. Madhur Bhandarkar?s film says that The Inside Story is a ground reality that smells more pungent than the under-ground gutter. The bitter truth that flashes on every frame of the film shows the real color of the obviously colorful PAGE 3.

The film starts at a point and ends at another point. And between those two points there is no particular story; but the space between those two points bridges the crude realities to the ignorant audience (Pardon me, if you are not!). The film shows that groove of life where Morality has touched Mortality?

The Celebrities Inside: Madhavi Sharma (brilliantly played by Konkana Sen Sharma), a PAGE 3 reporter, walks through the buzz of the riches? party-life. In the course, she comes across the dual lives of many socially famous peoples. And she takes time to accept the bitterness of the truth that slaps her every time she expects morality.

Her roommate Pearl (claps to Sandhya Mridhul), drowned three-n-half times in love, marries off a rich, but old man for a financially stable future. The other roommate Gayathri (natural performance by Tara Sharma) who attempted suicide for being betrayed by her boyfriend licks his cheek after a year as she has no other go.

The Gay Guy, whom Madhavi has respected as a friend, ends up having an affair with her lover. She feels sick-of-life when she listens to people, at a funeral, plan their next party. Her boss, the editor (at his usual best, Boman Irani), could hardly help her to write something better.

Later, with the help of a sincere cop (striking performance by Upendra Limaye), when she makes a PAGE 1 report, exposing the untidiness of a famous celebrity, she loses her job. When she is about to run away from her favorite profession, a good fellowman, Vinayak (more claps to Atul Kulkarni) tells her, ?Be in the System to Change it?. Again, she becomes a PAGE 3 reporter, but for another newspaper.

Madhur Bhandarkar has made another bold film after his ?Chandni Bar?. His script and direction are good and he deserves more appreciation for the effort he put in the research. He very well depicted the mechanics of newspapers. The music (by Shamir Tandon) was good and the cinematography ( by Madhu S Rao) was appropriate.

I preferred reading PAGE 3, until I saw this film. Thereafter, I continued reading PAGE 3, but realized that unimportant news are consistent in remaining unimportant because, they don?t deserve to be important.
