The Movie

The story revolves around page 3 journalist Madhvi. Page 3 is the 3rd page of newspaper which features the lifestyles, gossips and all spicy news of famous personalities, stars and other high class party wares. Movie deals with Madhvi's varied experiences with these shining people, brutally exposing their dark faces.

The Story

Madhvi (Kokanna Sen) is a page 3 journalist, staying with Pearl (Sandhya Mridul), an air hostess and Gayatri (Tara Sharma) a struggling actress. When the movie progresses after slow start, Madhvi undergoes many shocking events one after other, when she discovers her boyfriend is a gay, when she finds her gay friend engaged with her own boyfriend, when she catches red handed a famous personality in child molestation, when she learns about a renowned film producer?s sexual advances towards upcoming female artist, when her roommate Pearl marries an old millionaire, when her star friend insists Gayatri on abortion after she gets pregnant by him, when Gayatri make all compromises to become a star, when her boss fires her instead of applauding, after she exposes a children molestation racket, and many more events. Surprisingly Madhvi?s character is made stable enough to stand all these shocks.

Performances

After Chameli this is another successful and offbeat attempt by Madhur Bhandarkar. Music is melodious, especially, ?huzur-e-ala? by our beloved Asha. Kokanna Sen justifies her character of simple, sensitive but practical journalist, Madhvi. Sandhya Mridul looks great in Pearl, the outspoken, straight forward and ambitious air hostess. Tara Sharma, who plays Gayatri is very inarticulate and needs lot to improve. Boman Irani, Madhvi?s boss, is as expected very fluent and natural. Atul Kulkarni, a crime reporter, has given remarkable performance in his small script. Bikram Saluja is waste. New comers have done ok.

Bottom Line

It depends on individual whether he wants to succeed by hard work or by compromise.

Pros ? out of box, exposing the dark face of rich and famous people, huzur-e-ala.

Cons ? no story, too many negative characters, and few scenes are very boring especially the mourning on the death of social worker is very lengthy.
