Named after a famous novel of the early 20th century, the story of this movie has no semblance to it. A boy meets a girl and instantly falls in love with her. If you thought it was going the regular way, the twist here is that he marries her look-alike thinking that it’s her and ends up in a dilemma between marriage and love.

The heart-warming aspect is the realistic approach of the director. There are hardly any loud scenes. The relationship between the couple, the madness of the protagonist’s love for a girl whom he doesn’t know and the practical behaviour of all the three are brought out superbly. The climax, though not unpredictable, is a fitting end to the proceedings.

The item song, the fight sequence and other such things expose the compulsions of the director and producers. Even some of the songs hinder the flow of the story, which is already hampered by a slightly jerky screenplay. The dispensable comedy track featuring who else but Vivek, though humorous, reminds you unmistakably of the evergreen Kalyana Parisu comedy featuring Thangavelu.

The first half hour is a bit of a waste; with some more scenes based on the love-triangle, quite a bit of tension could have been built up leading upto the climax. Another sad thing are some exaggerated situations which film-makers just can’t seem to steer clear of. Corporate sponsorship of movies is good; but here, the loyalty shown in return becomes a minor irritant.

The underplaying actors lend terrific support to the director. The top honours go to Sneha, who is able to show a good amount of difference between the two characters; half the credit should go to the characterization itself though. Srikanth does a responsible job.

The music, both in songs and for the background, is good in parts. The special effects for the scenes involving the double role are done well, without a trace of indulgence. The rest of the technicalities of the movie are adequate.

When all you get is pretty much trash, even a movie with a certain amount of sincerity is a welcome change for the audience, which they happily lap up. But with an interesting story and near-real scenes, this movie could have been much more than what it ended up being.
