Mystical Music. Review on Paap Songs

After her first film 'Jism', producer Pooja Bhatt came back with 'Paap'. Written by Mahesh Bhatt and directed by Pooja Bhatt. “Paap” was a benchmark film for John Abraham. It was also a debut film for Udita Goswami.

Let me give you some hint about storywhich I think is the weakest part of movie. Udita is living with her father in Himalaya. Her father turned had accepted Buddha religion and wanted her daughter to be Buddha Monk. Udita was sent to Delhi for bringing a child to Himalaya whom they believe to be new avatar of God. Mean while Udita met John and they were caught in a murder mystery. Both reached Himalaya but murderers followed them to Himalaya. John finally finished all. Udita’s father wanted her daughter to become monk and ignore everything but Udita went with John to live happily forever.

Now you can understand how a terrible movie had spoiled the party of great music album.

Let’s start with my favorite track “Intezaar… Intezaar ..!!!”

This song is sung by Anuradha Paudwal and Music given by Anu Malik. This is one of the best songs composed by Anu in last decade. After a long absence from film, Anuradha has made a stunning come back.Wow ..!!! We heard a never before melody from her. Song starts with a beautiful aalap and then comes the mystical music supporting the aalap. After that it is a sound of Guitar. When Drum beats join Guitar sound it lifts the whole environment mood. After breath taking music, Anuradha’s voice comes like a divine gift. Through out song we can feel effect of Guitar, Flute and Drum. Not to forget here the humming voice of some man (ahaaaaa, ahaaaa) which gives perfect sense of someone waiting for. Words have created magic in the song. How can I forget Sayeed Quadri for his memorable lyrics in this song?It would be totally unfair if I mention any one line as my favorite. This is one of very few songs of Bollywood which have beautiful lyrics through out song.

Then comes “MAN KI LAGAN…”

We can say that two sixes in two ball. Voice of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan composed by Shahi on lyrics of Amjad Islam Amjad.

I feel strength of the song is Voice of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan,though it never suits John but it’s amazing. Music director Shahi has used Tabla and Harmonium to its best effect.Through out the song you will hear mainly these 2 instruments only. This is like “hoga tumse pyara kaun” and “Ek Ladaki ko dekha” by RD Burman, minimum use of instrument but the best effect.This is indeed a beautiful song which you can hear at late night in moon light only. Sheer excellence ..!!!

My favorite lyrics “Tera Tujako sop de, kya lagat hai mor, Mera muj me kuchh nahi, jo hovat so tor”. It looks like totally devoted lyrics of Meerabai for Bhagavan Shri Krishna. This ultimate level of love i.e. total devotion. A magic by Amjad Islam Amjad.

My 3rd favorite is “Garaj Baras Sawan Ghir aayo”.

It’s again a song performed by Pakistani Music group. This is a pop song which turns out to be favorite song at many discs. This song is sung, written and composed by Ali Azmat. Yes, famous singer from Band Pakistani group “Junoon”. Ali Azmat’s voice is little bit off bit but perfectly match with this song. The song is going on a Guitar track only. Ali has used his voice to its best effect to match up with ups and downs of the song. Lyrics is nice but this song will be remembered for its sound track more than https://lyrics.I have watched the movie way back before 2 years but if I remember correctly, this song comes when Shiven is driving to Himalaya. In a way it is a good song when you are driving to some place.

Next song for me is Laal which is an Alaap only.

This is also like Garaj baras which is going on with beautiful tune. There is a rhythm going all the way in the song.This song is sung by father-son Farrukh & Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. It is composed by Shahi. This rhythm starts very slowly in mild voice and picks the pace. When it reaches to its peak momentum, it uses many musical instruments. This gives an amazing melodious effect to ears. After long time I found such an exceptional classical music in film.

Both the singers with music director have done wonders. We can recognize only two words in the song i.e. “Joole Laal” which is at the end else only pure mystical music going on.

Fifth song is “Sun E Mere Dil”.

This is also a beautiful love song. Udit Narayan and Anuradha Paudwal sung on tunes of Anu Malik. This is like all traditional slow love songs where both lovers are making conversation regarding their situation. No doubt that Anuradha was at her best when she sung Intezaarbut here also she performed very well. She scored a perfect come back. Udit has performed equally nice in a single song which is allotted to him in the movie. Lyrics is weak point of the song, Sayeed Quadriwho has written a wonderful song like Intezaar is falling short in this song.Anuradha and Udit had tried to cover up for weak lyrics with their voice during song by stretching the song up and down to its extreme but still it fails to leave impact like Intezaar.

7 Though music, lyrics of 3 songs are done by Pakistani, I feel it is really alike Indian. I feel those are as good as Indian song than Pakistani. Music is not having any border, only countries have ..!!!
